    Hello everyone!

Okay, straight to the point. I would like to know what is the best hardware requirements to play The Sims 4 smoothly in ultra settings? My girlfriend loves to play The Sims 3 so much and I'm planning to give her The Sims 4 as a birthday gift. Also, I'm looking for a laptop or build a desktop that can run the game in full settings. EA provides the minimum system requirements but we all know its not good enough and I don't want to spend more on something I don't need. I can't also ask on the EA forum because they want me to buy the game first before I can post on their forum. I just need to know:
    • Processor: ? GHz (I prefer Intel)
    • RAM: ? GB (4GB enough?)
    • Graphics: ? (I prefer nVidia Geforce, I need the model)
Or, if you can just suggest a laptop that is not running only on built-in graphics. I know there are a lot of websites that provide the system requirements but I don't believe it unless they have a proof. So, can anyone provide also a screenshot with fps or something as a proof for your answer?

By the way, I'm new on the forum so forgive me if I post on a wrong section and if I'm bad in English.

    Thanks a lot!

All I know at the moment is that 4GB should be enough since the executable is a 32bit file. As for the recommended specs, unfortunately they haven't released the information yet.

Well i've only ever had Intel processors and I don't know much about budget gaming laptops although my girlfriend @Gigi might be of some assistance there.

    • I'd imagine an intel i5 would be perfect at the very least processor wise.
    • 4GB of RAM mayyyyy be borderline... I had some issues on my machine with 4gb of RAM. It's by no means impossible though! But if you get 4gb I can see that being a bottleneck in the future. What you can do though is depending on the motherboard, if it has 4 slots, you CAN get away with adding 2 x 2gb sticks, and later if you want buy another 2 sticks to bump it up to 8 if you find you need it. But if you have a decent budget, just go for 2 x 4gb sticks (8gb in total) leaving you 2 slots to upgrade to 16gb in the future if you wanted to.
    • The Nvidia 750TI is a graphics card I would really recommend.... my girlfriend is tempted to get it for her rig sometime down the line. It's a budget card, but real greaaaat performance. More than enough for the Sims 4 on ultra! And plenty other games.
I'd go into detail about what motherboards/cases you can get i'd recommend... but it's late gah.

Let us know your overall budget! The prices can really add up!

Well by going by the below which are TS4's required specs:
    • OS: Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1), Windows 8, or Windows 8.1
    • PROCESSOR: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4000+ or equivalent (For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-62 or equivalent)
    • MEMORY: At least 2 GB RAM
    • HARD DRIVE: At least 9 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
    • DVD-ROM: DVD ROM drive required for installation only
    • VIDEO CARD: 128 MB of Video RAM and support for Pixel Shader 3.0. Supported Video Cards: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better, ATI Radeon X1300 or better, Intel GMA X4500 or better
    • SOUND CARD: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
    • DIRECTX: DirectX 9.0c compatible
    • SPECS
These specs been out of date for over 5/6 years...if those above can run The Sims 4, then a basic computer bought today unless you have a cheap netbook should run on high or ultra settings.. I would say you can probably get away with ultra settings if you are running an i5 or i7 period. I run an 1.7 ghz first generation i7 with 8 GB of RAM and I am killin TS4 with ultra settings. Maybe an i3 that at least has 2 ghz.

4GB of RAM should be enough and you probably won't even lag. They made The Sims 4 to not be comsumptive of resources and as the post above me said, it is a 32 bit .exe.

The graphics, I wouldn't worry about. The Sims 4 was not made with the average pc gamer in mind who has those big, heavy graphics cards. There is not really much texturing or anything in The Sims 4. My Sims in these screenshots in this first post were on ultra settings...I doubt you'd need anything special:

    Hi Lammashta Otaku,

Thanks for the reply. Based on my personal research, they really don't give even the recommended specs (pertaining to The Sims 3). And I believe the recommended specs is between performance and quality.

Yeah those I listed above were the minimum specs but yeah I am thinking instead of wasting money on more parts right now, if you are running an i3 - i7, even a 2.0 2.4 ghz quad core, with 4-8 gb or RAM, you probably should be fine with ultra settings. The Sims 4's requirements are lower than The Sims 3 which is a 5 year old game.

Thanks for the replies sodagod and Gigi,

BTW Gigi, those are the minimum requirements but appreciated your info based on experience. sodagod, don't you think 16GB is too much lol? Anyway, thanks for the info. These are the things I need to look on to.

well all of the system requirements really are nothing anyway. With the sims 3 u needed a top of the line computer but with the sims 4 the specs are low to be set to fit right to let your computer run well. I have a 4gb computer so yea the sims 4 will run it with no real problems. and my specs are pretty much AMD A4 4300 series and runs very well on the pc games i play especially along with the 6000 MB that is set to act like extra space for RAM. With 450 gb of hardrive space. so to say, if you get a computer of this year or last with at least 4-8 gb of ram with a good amount of hardrive space and an up to date processor you can run the sims 4 very well with little to no problems. I thank EA that they have lowered the specs so this game will be playable. Great enough to play a smooth sailing let's play

Thanks Charlotte_mays for sharing. I'm more concerned now on what Graphics Card should I pick other than what sodagod suggests.

@Gigi what graphics you are using now?

Hahaha, I don't intend to diss you Charlotte_mays but you're not getting the point. I know all the hardware available today but I don't know what is the best one that I need. I got no problem for the budget but I don't want to buy something that is greater than what I need and buy something that can't maximize the settings of The Sims 4. Anyway, I really appreciate your help. Thank you. ;)

Well I said you could potentttialllyyy upgrade to 16gb in the future. But if you got 2 x 4gb sticks at least you'd have 2 extra slots for future proofing in however many years :) but i'd say go with 8gb for now.

Gigi has a 4-5 year old gaming laptop, shes in the slow progress of building a new pc and just has the case at the moment.

My only issue is if you were to get the CAS demo from origin and then later on install the full game when it comes out, will that be an issue for the CAS that is already in game (would you have to uninstall it to save space since I only have 4GB of memory and want to save as much as I can for game)? I remembered downloading TS3 Pets CAS Demo and having to uninstall it before installing game.

Does any know how much space the demo takes up ? Because according to what I heard, this person got her demo early and she mentioned something about it needing 8GB on computer.

On the topic of memory. 4GB is pretty basic in these days of 64-bit OS's. People assume that since the game is 32-bit there is no need for any more than 4GB. Maybe if we were talking about a gaming console that is doing nothing else. But do you want Windows to run well? Do you want to be able to run a browser with multiple tabs in the background? Do you want to be able to tab in and out of the game window with ease? Would you like to run Photoshop and share your screenshots on the Internet all with your game minimized? Memory is cheap these days. I recommend 8GB. There's more running on your PC than just the game.

I've been looking for parts for a new PC and 8GB is pretty much the standard I want in it, it's enough to be more than the minimum as to let me run things in the background such as Origin, Steam and Firefox.

Honestly at this time, I barley have enough money to pay the rent, so more than likely I will have to wait until Christmas time or so to buy my self an 8GB desktop. In the mean whilst, I will still plan to buy TS4, download it on my 4GB and go from there. For sure I won't be buying any EP's if the team does decide on releasing one at the end of this year...

Now that I'm thinking about these "Recommended" settings, maybe these are recommended for if players want to run the sims 4 on it's ultra settings. Because I don't have the absolute best computer, some requirements I do not meet but I ran the demo on its ultra settings with no problem. I know I can't judge the game by the demo but I can run the sims 3, in which that game won't even run great on the best computer, but it runs smoothly with mines. If the sims 4 was meant to run on grandma computers, then it can run and these setting were probably run on a very advanced and up to date built computer and probably not even tested on low end computers but I don't know. So maybe those recommended specs were made for if you want to run them on ultra settings
