So here's what I'm trying: I'm going to play a completely random Sim. One I have not customized at all. And no cheats. We'll see how it goes!

I put all of the town names in a dish and my son picked Starlight Shores so that's where we're living. So I have a blonde, Caucasian female Sim named Brooke Gonzales and she's all decked out in cowgirl gear! Interesting.

Her traits came up Artistic, Computer Whiz, Eccentric, Good and Loser. Interesting combination. Her LTW choices were Monster Maker, Home Design Hotshot, Forensics Specialist: Dynamic DNA Profiler, Chess Legend and Master of the Arts. I had promised myself I would choose whatever was first so Brooke is going to be a Monster Maker. She's a Cancer who likes Hot Dogs, French Music and the color Green.

I moved her in to tthe cheapest house available, Practical Prefab, a lovely trailer right across the street from the C-Ment Shoe Factory. And to make things even more interesting, my trailer was struck by a meteor (I accepted) and now I'm gonna go clean up the mess and see what trouble Cowgirl Brooke can get into!

Mini update (but I'm at work - shhhh! - so the details will be generalized). I'm going to be goofy and write this from Brooke's point of view like it's a journal entry...

I'm finally settling in to life in Starlight Shores. My new house needs a little TLC but it's growing on me. After I cleaned up the space rocks (ka-ching!) and brambles from my yard, I bought the cutest little sloppy jalopy and had it painted red. I figure a new town also calls for a new career and since I've been dying to express myself creatively, I splurged on an inventor's table! I had my first official job for the nice folks at the hospital. My inventing has improved significantly, as has my handiness, so I may slow down and take some time to learn a few side skills. The mayor also gave me an award which was super exciting!

I made a few trips to the local junkyard for scrap which was fun at first but soon became tedious and smelly. Due to the latter, I invested in a new shower. My neighbors and nose are thankful. I have an awesome new bed and a microwave that appeared from nowhere! After I sell the widgets and toys I've made so far at the consignment shop, I may even treat myself to a few minor home improvements.

There's a fortune teller in town next to some weird elixir shop and I had my fortune read but I think I was scammed. It wasn't a completely wasted trip, though, because I met some new folks in the park and even enjoyed a nice seaside picnic. One neighbor keeps trying to give me flowers, which is annoying me, so I'm avoiding him. I'm just not that into him, ya know? I did meet a potential BFF when dropping off my job at the hospital and she's come over once to hang out so I'm psyched about that!

Not too shabby for my first few days in town!

    Dear Diary -

Happy Saturday.Things in my new town are moving along despite a few runs of bad luck. I have advanced quite far in my new career although Inventing doesn't seem to make much money. I had to buy a computer and hack for supplemental income. On the up side, I've constructed a drill and delved (pun intended) in the underworld. Dug a nice little cavern and found a few pricey gems. Hopefully, my next foray will be as successful.

A couple of setbacks have slowed me down but they haven't stopped me. My stove caught fire and replacing it broke me. Then after I replaced it and fireproofed the new one, I was rob and the thief took a picture and (you guessed it) my new stove! I didn't have an alarm because I couldn't afford one so the police didn't show up in time to catch the crook. I'm happy to report that I now have an alarm, a new stove, and a new fridge! I've met some folks at different places around town like Delmar Beach, the junkyard, the consignment shop and even a party! Otherwise, all is well.

Ok...this isn't going as well as I had hoped. I guess because I didn't make her and used all of the defaults, I kinda don't like her. Well, maybe that's too strong...I just don't feel connected to her. That being said, I haven't played Brooke in quite some time. I may get back to her one day but don't look for any updates soon.

So I can either fix Brooke so that I like her more, scrap her and start posting about someone else, or let wait awhile and see if I can reignite the spark, so to speak. We'll see.

    Giving Brooke another go.

I have tweaked a few of her outfits but kept her ridiculous cowboy-inspired everyday outfit. She is eccentric, after all. I've eased up a bit on her workaholism and have allowed her some fun. She's purchased a few niceties for her trailer and is now romantically involved with NPC nerd-who-lives-with-werewolf-grandma Girbits Worthington. Like her, he loves computers and is a loser. He's also rich, so if they move in together then maybe she'll have some extra cash for her experiments. Their challenge is getting to that point: one is a Cancer and the other is a Gemini...not compatible.

As a inventor, she's doing okay but still supplements her income with hacking. She attended an awesome pool party and has hung out at the gym (to increase her athletic skill which she apparently needs for delving into the holes she's dug with her drill). She's also working on her gardening and is focused now on making making enough cash for a new computer so she can play chess and increase her logic. We'll see what today holds for our Monster Maker in training! Well, right after I run my mother to an errand and run an errand myself; must be back before the Liverpool game airs LOL. You'll never walk alone!

(PS - Not using the money cheat is tougher than I expected.)

When your Sim gets enough money, you can take her to the stylist, and tweak her even more. ;)
I never manage to get very far without breaking down, and cheating like crazy.

Hang in there, you're doing great! I'm loving the story so far!

Haven't played poor Brooke in a little bit (been playing two other families!) but I may play her tonight.

I can tell you that Girbits gave up being a merman: he just couldn't keep up his salt water swims, family life and his police career. Werewolf Gran likes to date hot young things. They keep her young and howling at the moon! Brooke's and Girbits' daughter was a child I think. I can't even remember the poor child's name.

When I get home, I'll take a pic or two to post here. If you guys are bored with them (like I had become) let me know and I can switch to another family.

My newest creation, Harmony Honeywell (lol) is having a run of bad luck. She has twice escaped meteors (once at home and once at work) although two of her co-workers perished. She's also been abducted by aliens twice and there were two attempted robberies at her home; her devoted Bonehilda thwarted the would-be thief both times. Harmony had a shotgun wedding to werewolf George Dean (pregnant by the second date - naughty!) and had to move out of her cozy one-bedroom Riverview bungalow. Unfortunately, Harmony's creator (me) hastily edited the town to relocate the fortune teller wagon to make it closer to her new home for a shorter commute... and Harmony ended up unemployed and now has to start her career from the bottom when she had been level 7! With the sky either falling or sucking her up, thieves, new home, new husband, baby on the way and starting her career from nil - it's a miracle Harmony hasn't gone mad!

It is with the deepest sadness that I report that Brooke is no longer with us. Actually, all of my Sims are gone. I was having serious computer issues (games wouldn't play at all) and i ended up uninstalling Windows 8.1 and rolling back to 8.0. Seems my video card and 8.1 didn't play well together. So I'm currently reinstalling my entire machine, including Sims, and will have to start over. Stay tuned...

I've made my first new Sim after wiping my machine. She's Bond girl-esque...a sexilicious red head named Penny Lane who wants to be an International Super Spy. She was originally called Ginger Vytas (lol) but my son told me that sounded gross so when I resurrected her I also renamed her. I may start a new thread here or a blog once I'm a VIP Member! Still thinking about taking her to the courthouse and changing her name back...

I've already changed it so maybe I can should send her to the courthouse and change it back. She's Penny Lane (yes, from the song) but I wish she were still Ginger Vytas. I loved that it was weird. Made me laugh every time I played her.

I enjoyed reading your posts dawnderee! I tried to go through the game using no cheats once....I lasted about two days worth of gameplay before I went mad and caved in, hahahaha. With TS4, I'm thinking of playing completely outside of the box; different from how I had previously played with my goody-two-shoes sims in TS3 and before. And I totally get your having to have your computer wiped clean...I had to start over way too many times because of compatibility issues with TS3. I'm glad Maxis is making TS4 less demanding on our operating systems.

Thanks for reading and liking it! I was thinking about doing a sims blog but wasn't sure anybody would read it (haha) :p.
I haven't made a new random sim yet (since having to wipe my computer) but might start one soon. I used a randomizing tool recently for a Random Legacy Challenge but my two sims ended up quite incompatible and HATED each other. It became impossible to achieve the objectives (like have a baby) when they couldn't even have a conversation without arguing. I may be try that again, or maybe a Wishacy Challenge.

Not cheating IS very hard. In fact, when I do photo shoots, I do cheat. I make sure everyone's motives are up & use hideheadlineeffects on (so the plumbob and thought bubbles are gone). I can't stand when they whine about being hungry and such while I'm trying to take pictures. In fact, I was getting the whole family together for a photo shoot when a zombie crawled out of the depth from behind. I was JUST getting ready to take a picture, too.:p So, then I turned zombies off and reset the sim.

I'd love to see a wishacy from you! They are so random and fun! I love other legacies, too. I've read quite a few of them and, in fact, I've been reading two that are absolutely phenomenal! Like, you get ABSORBED into their story. I have learned so much from them in writing techniques and picture taking, too. If you want to read them, they are Listening to My Heart & The Torres Legacy. I have told both authors that if they ever wrote a real book, I'd read it. :D

Let us know what you decide to do. ;)
