So I normally have like 50+ FPS at TS2 with max graphics, but when I move the camera even one inch it all falls below 10. Can somebody explain why?

You're running the complete TS2 pack, with everything on max, and you wonder why you lag so badly with THOSE specs? The answer is simple my friend: Your computer is the equivalent of an outdated toaster, running on potato energy! That thing only has one place - the junkyard. You REALLY need to consider an upgrade!

Just to give you an example - the 2GB of RAM (even though its not that important to run games) is the bare MINIMUM to simply be able to run Windows 7. You're running Windows 7 with some other applications I bet, and on top of that, you're also playing a demanding game like TS2 (the complete pack with every expansion can be taxing on certain machines). The graphic chard is super weak to be able to keep up with all the animations, details and processing required by the game, specially with those settings.

You need to be realistic and adjust your settings to fit the kind of machine you have. You can't expect a Mini Smart to give the same performance as a Ferrari!

hey now Ivory, calm down. Don't scare him off :nailbiting::hilarious: His PC actually exceeds The Sims 2's requirements as shown in the pic below:

But yeah Dave, to be fair I remember running the Sims 2 back in the day on my old Dell with 512mb of ram. It was playable sure, but 2gb of ram these days is quite low

Running everything on Ultra can be quite demanding, for any pc! What i'd suggest is opening task manager, checking to see if any background processes are using too much CPU or ram. Because most likely theres malware/viruses or other programs running in the background using your CPU/RAM therefore affecting how The Sims 2 runs.

Also have you tried updating your graphics drivers? Also play with the graphics settings, turn it down to medium and low and see what the framerate is like with them just to rule out the basic things.

Let us know how you get on :)

I will upgrade on November :D (MY birthday) I'll get new power supply, more ram a graphics card, but I'll leave the processor because I find it sufficient enough. But thing is it's weird because it stops working properly as soon as I move the camera! Anyway I guess I'll just have to wait until november :/

well fingers crossed crossed you get better performance :) the thing is though i'm kind of in a similar situation, i've been updating little bits here and there but it's like patching up holes on a boat with ducktape. It's not gonna last. I've just given up updating my PC and i'm gonna just build a new machine altogether at some point in the future. I'd recommend doing that. But it's not always an option on small budgets.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I don't think that kind of update is possible, sadly. Keeping older parts may be cheaper, but you also need to take into consideration that the newer hardware may not be compatible with the older stuff.

If you're going to get one of these newer graphic cards then you're also going to need a modern motherboard that has a compatible slot for it. The problem is that newer motherboards may no longer have a fitting slot for a processor as old as yours - they're built for different models.

In other words, you're better off considering buying a fully upgraded machine... and its costs. I think its worth it though, because those "duct-tape" patches of upgrading one or two components at a time end up being more costly in the long-run.

Exactly. Don't let him/her fool you. Ferrari is a piece of :poop:. How about Lamborghini instead? :roflmao: I am sure your computer will be fine... I heard that older computer will able to run with Sims 4. Just wait and try to play with it on Sept 2nd. If it is too slow, buy extra ram or something.:barefoot:
