Does anyone else have this problem? In TS3, as soon as I make a Sim and get it into the world, I suddenly decide I'm not happy with it! I get into this cycle of creating and destroying Sims/Worlds because I can't decide what kind of Sim I want to play.

Example: Yesterday, I made a hacker Sim. Genius, Computer Whiz, Night Owl, Clumsy, and Hopeless Romantic. I started playing her and just wasn't feeling it. I figure I'll just have to open her up in Create-a-Sim again, if changing her to a different world doesn't peak my interest [she's actually pretty good looking, so I don't want to remake her].

ANYWAYS. I guess I was just wondering if this happens to other people, too, or if I am some sort of Sim Freak that seems to get overwhelmed with all the choices. :p

Happens to me all the time! I'll make a household, play it for a while, but when I start playing the game again, I want to make a new household. Luckily, people are saying that you won't get bored in TS4 like we do in TS3. Hopefully this is the case.

In terms of your issue, I find it helpful to keep playing when I set a goal for myself. For example, getting to like my 4th generation but being a very rich family. Feeling like you're the new Landgraab lol.

I had that happen to until I finally just had to make a Sim with a dramatic life lol, and making bad situations, like meeting a boyfriend who was married, being the mistress, met a husband of her own, and got a piece of her own cake back, got thrown out by her husband, homeless, then raised her kids on her own...This makes the game fun for me instead of perfect Sim, meet husband, get job, have kids, live happily ever after with no life drama or triumphs at all.

Tbh, it's probably about time for The Sims 4. I got the same before The Sims 2 came out, and The Sim3 came out.

It still annoys me when the fanbase starts riots and such when they hear something has been taken out content wise. They need to realize it's about gameplay. The Sims 3 has so much content, however, we get bored quickly. Those negative people are funny, lol.

I agree. I have so much content for the game and I try to play it but I get bored so easy. I havent even used a lot of the stuff that I payed for.

I really should make a more dramatic life for my sims. I has gotten very boring the way I have been playing. I am finding it impossible to stay with one sim.

I find it funny that people are throwing out the idea of getting the game because of pools, toddlers, etc., like it can't be added later. At least we'll be having fun with a fresh, new game. Let them stick to TS3 I guess...

Yeah, I'm getting the feeling my Sims are just too boring. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that feels like this, though! I really do think Sims 4 will help. I'm really excited for it! :celebrate: It's not out yet, though, so. TS3 it is. I think I'll take the advice of doing something crazy/dramatic. I usually do normal stuff, so maybe it's time to leave my comfort zone! Also, setting a goal to reach will probably help.

I think with the new TS4 CAS and build mode, it will be easier to get invested into a Sims than in Sims 3. We will have so much more control on how our Sims look, walk, and talk. We will have so much more easy and control when building our houses. I think that will really help with the boredom. PLUS, those game play videos seem so much more fun than TS3 right now. I think the emotions will really spice up game play, too. :D

Also probably take a look at some mods on modthesims if you are comfortable enough. They have all kinds of mods to make the game more life-like that you can use to make lots of situations (from Blessings/Disasters on command to teenage pregnancy, then the Nraas mods are well. A few google searches is good too for finding mods.

I wouldn't go on installing too many mods at once though, especially if your computer can hardly handle The Sims 3. I got my game so modded up that you'd think its a different game lol.

I think I'm just bored with TS3 in general right now. I haven't played it in a few months actually. I'm sure I'll load it up again at some point but right now I'm having a lot of fun rediscovering TS2. Wow, I haven't played it since 2011 and I've forgotten how much I loved that series and it looks like TS4 is going to be somewhat similar so I'm really excited for that.

Well I've finally reached the point where I've uninstalled all my Sims 3 games. I have the space for it all on my computer but the past few times I've played, it ends up freezing or crashing and I don't use CC, only a few of the NRAAS mods and it just gets to be to annoying. So I took them out of my game. With LESS than a month away, I'll be playing Sims 4, I can deal haha!

As for your question, I would get the same way after about the 4th generation. I'd always start out making a single sim with 1 negative trait. I always play rags to riches and as they leveled up in their carreer and got married, I did "random" for all their kids traits, which always made things very interesting! Sometimes it's nice to be in "control" of everything. lol!!

Ugh I'm at work and it won't let me "edit" so what I meant to say was, "Sometimes it's nice to NOT be in "control" of everything all the time. lol!

@ Gigi I'll look into mods. I've never really considered then before. My laptop isn't the greatest, but I can always see!

@SillyAngel I love the Sims 2, but I was kinda in the mood for Sims 3, I guess. I want it to be fun, though, so I could shake it up and play TS2 for fun, as well. Actually, I was going to pick it back up, but then I got distracted by TS3 and sort of forgot about TS2.

@Happy I never thought about just randomizing traits and stuff. That could make it very fun and outside what I usually do! Or I could do a normal type Sims family and have random traits for all the children and keep on playing like that, like you do.

Plenty of ideas to keep me busy until The Sims 4 comes out! :D

I'm seriously starting to think maybe I just don't like the game. I've been playing on and off since 2012 and bought several EPs, so it isn't a lack of content. I think I just fundamentally don't like the game. I usually end up thinking most of the Sims are ugly, most of the clothes are ugly. When I create a Sim in Sims 3, they end up all looking the same because I found what I think is prettiest, which sucks game play wise, when different Sims all look the same. And that's only women. I don't even bother creating men because I feel like they are worse. XD
I did make a Sim different than what I usually do tonight. I had fun making her, until I realized she looked like my last Sim and she had basically all the same clothes. Then I plopped her down in the world and it suddenly felt like a chore, because I sent her to go take the guitar class and when she came out, there was no one there, I had to go looking for people. So, I found a whole 3 Sims in a dog park, two who were children. lol So, I moved her to a different town, tweaked her life wish, sent her to the theater for the class, and there were 2 Sims outside when she was done. I guess it felt more like work than fun, trying to find Sims to interact with. And I don't want to play her alone all the time.

So, yeah. XD I think I might not like the game. I so can't wait for Sims 4. :cat: Everything I've seen indicates I'll be able to play and easily find Sims. The Sims will be pretty. Better customization. Better clothes. Cooler houses. No tots or pools, but I don't actually care too much about that, especially since I think the emotions will be fun. I guess it's just weird. I liked the Sims 2. I still like it. So, I don't understand why I don't like the Sims 3. They are both life simulation games. Which makes me wonder why I love the looks of Sims 4, when I don't seem to like Sims 3, because life simulation.

I'm long winded sometimes. Please don't mind my rambling. I kind of got to thinking "out loud." :banghead:

I understand your rambling. It happens to everyone. After playing something for so long, you get burned out and don't have the motivation to play anymore. It's even worse now that you're heavily anticipating TS4. Luckily, Sims 4 loading screens allow your current location to be really lively and populated. For me, I just put pools when I make mansions, for decoration. Never use them. I don't really mind toddlers being cut because that lifestage was such a chore. I could never teach them how to walk, talk and use the potty because my sims got distracted or had their own things to do.....

Sims 4 seems super lively! In a last ditch effort, so to speak, I'm going to look for some tiny Sims 3 worlds. With a smaller world, people should be easier to find. :) That should make it a bit more lively.

I read that if you add some other sims to all the empty houses, it might work.

Thank You! I swear I thought I was losing it for a second. This happens to me all the time. I stop playing the sims for a few weeks or month's and try to play it again but TS3 just feels lifeless now. I guess since TS4 is right around the corner, I'm getting really excited for it and CAS demo is making me even more anxious cause this is just a small fraction of the CAS in the full game and then theres the game itself with a different set of gameplay features I can't wait to test out.

I tried playing TS3 a few days ago and I haven't played it since. I made this sim that I didn't really bother to change her look or anything cause she was a pre made. I gave her a starter home and she has gone to the future got herself really into the high tech lifestyle, checked lotto records and went back home. She won 150,000 simoleons and I guess I was planning on getting her a bigger house but rebuilt/upgraded the one she is living at now. right now she's got a bf who i might have her break up with just so she can date other guys till Mr. Right comes along.

I feel like I could o so much more with her story but at the same time its boring lol. Like theres nothing like opening up a new sims BG or EP and exploring things you've never thought were possible. When TS4 comes out I definitely want to force a family to move to Oasis Springs just because we haven't seen a lot of it lately.
