What are you up to now that the demo has been released to Windows users everywhere?

I, myself dug up an archaic Dell laptop and crossed my fingers that maybe it still had enough power to run the demo. Sadly, it did not and I idly considered purchasing a cheap PC to run the game.

But I don't know if I'm really so impatient to not wait for it to be released to Macs. But that answer turns from a whisper to a yell when I consider there was six months between Sim City 5s PC & Mac release.

What do you guys think? How are you managing?

Could you buy the Windows OS for your Mac...( is that Parallels)? I don't know what that program is called. But could you buy that and then download The Sims (CAS/TS4) on the Windows side of it? Or are the specs of a Mac not good enough to run The Sims?

I was thinking of getting my hands on a cheap windows laptop just for the sake of playing Sims 4. But spending the money on a laptop that probably doesn't have the best graphics seems like such a waste!
I used bootcamp on my iMac yesterday to install windows 7, because I was so desperate to try the CAS demo! It runs so smooth, graphics are not bad at all.. So I pre-ordered The Sims 4 and will be playing it on my windows partition on iMac ^^ fingers crossed the full game will run just as smooth!

You can install windows on your mac by going through a process called Boot Camp (apple's website has more info and youtube has a plethora of videos on how to do it). Basically it just splits your hard drive in two parts (partitions) to prepare it for windows. After you are done with that process, you install windows as you would with any other computer. (I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you have a substantial amount of free disk space--60+ gigabytes that you won't mind losing in OS X--...perhaps you can do it on an external drive via a thunderbolt port?)

CaptainMauzer, no you can't install bootcamp to an external. And I heard that 30G would be enough?

Fox, how much did you use to partition? Did you have any problems? Where did you get Windows 7 from? I can't seem to find it in stores!

I've heard 32 GB should do the trick, but I played it extremely safe by using 80 GB.... I went a bit overboard, I'm sure if you stick to 32 it'll be just fine.
I just have loads of extra space that never gets used.

Entire process went really smooth! Only freaked out first time windows logged in, I thought my mouse and keyboard weren't working, it just needed a couple minutes to be recognised.
Another common problem is the audio not functioning in windows, there are several solutions for it. For me it was as simple as reinstalling the bootcamp software for windows.

I did some searching online to find windows 7... I'll send you a pm.

If ALL you would be using Windows for is TS4 then yes, 35-ish GB would be enough. However if you ever wanted to use it for anything else, you would see yourself hitting a storage limit very quickly. I suppose you could always just use an external drive for your windows applications though (Widows 8 takes up roughly 20GB)

I just got a mac recently and I wished The Sims 4 was both mac and pc compatible like The Sims 3 was.
