TS4 Tips and Tricks

I was talking with some simmers last night and thought it might be nice if we had a spot to check for some tips and tricks we've all found in the game. So here goes LOL. I'll try to add them into this message as you all post your tips but at least we will have the thread to sort through. I'm also looking at some single threads that have been posted and I'll link to them so you get those too. I'll put one or two in, but I'll need lots of help building a list so please post yours too!

When your sims die their inventory does not pass down! You can't prepare for every event, but you may want to try and keep your inventories on the low side. I had left only a few unimportant items in my inventory and when "Dad" died of old age those items didn't transfer to any other household member.

If you have a drink on a counter or table, you can have your eating sim add "drink" to the queue and they will eat and drink. You can also have them get milk or OJ under quick meal from the fridge.

Many items have mood enhancers so be sure to check them and turn them on to get a boost. Examples are the reward lamps and the MySims dolls you can dig up. Different items have different mood enhancers. My sim got reward items from the culinary career (a sink and a coffee machine) and they also have the ability to enhance moods. I suggest you click everything to see LOL.

Gardening: I had heard that you need the pots to plant seeds, now I don't know for sure. You may need to acquire the skill first, but you can plant on the ground. You can purchase seeds from pots or on the computer, but you can find plants to harvest around town so you can get free plantables. Also, my daughter planted a tree in a pot inside her house so that isn't limited anymore. *scroll down a little for some other great gardening tips from Rekalty!!

*Warning, this cheat is said to be bugged and will make your sims siblings. Use with caution!*
To change last names when your sim gets married (if you don't just want to keep their last names): "Use testingcheats, then cas.fulleditmode for full editing of every single Sim by shift clicking on them and selecting Modify in CAS. #TS4tip

I've found that making friends is easier on the computer than the phone. Once a sim is known you can chat with them and it lasts longer than a phone call and builds more relationship.

The potion of youth (whatever it is called...the thing that reverses age) from the aspiration rewards store WILL NOT allow a sim to go back to a younger stage but will completely reset the current life stage, so it is most advantageous to use it on the last day of the young adult/adult stage (or far into the elder stage if you so choose) *Thank you CaptainMauzer for this tip!*

Since this is a tips and tricks thread, I have a question:
- How do I make half-walls? I want to make a kitchen with an opening to the main lobby.

Great thread, but I want to correct a few things. As you say, you don't need pots/planter boxes to plant, but Garden Pots lets you have plants inside. (Like you said. Boxes don't work inside, however) Also, while you can click them to Order Seeds, you're also able to do this from any computer. Planter Boxes do take up 2x2 tiles, but sims seem to have issues moving around them, to get to the plants, I mostly just use Garden Pots for inside, to have a nice plant, and just plant stuff on the ground outside. Some plants will require more space once they're grown, but they will not when they're only a dirt pile, so if you pre-plan, you can have a pretty tidy, compact garden.

I have yet to find a way of doing this, I wanted to go for the same look, but I I'm still searching... Hopefully they'll patch it in, eventually.

Ivory, I couldn't find a way to make a half wall, but... you can replace a wall with a fence. I know it's not a perfect fix, but it is an option. Let me know if it works for you!

I've added a couple of things to the list but I'd be very happy if anyone had others to share.

If you try to marry an evil or mean sim, they will most likely reject. BE WARNED. Your sim may die from despair. (I thought the devs said they were removing that death but oh well)

I absolutely love this thread and am also looking for the half wall thing lol.

I also have a question, how do you make rounded off counters? I had it in one of my sims home, but can't figure out how to do it.

Tip: if your sim is reading a book and its bladder need is low, you can direct them to use the toilet and they'll continue to read their book while sitting there.

I tried this and it worked I bought a pink cradle when the Sim was pregnant.I know that the cradle does not have to buy, but I wanted a girl.. and I got it ♥ Next time I will try again, I hope this working again,I want get a many girls

It dose work with Pink cradle this may sound crazy but i have 3 adults and one male in my family saved the game and played next day and i ended up with 3 babies and one adult male sime with a big cheesy grin Don't know what he was up to when i wasn't playing the game
