Sims 4 - Life Stages & Height Differences (concerning?)

I can see how many people are disappointed with the height but I think, well for me, I can live with it.

Either this is a problem, or that CAS makes all sims look to be the same height whilst they are being made... :/

I'm not a huge fan of the teens being as tall as the adults, but I don't really mind when it comes to the heights between adult and elder. Maybe the elders will hunch over in game?

EDIT: I don't think it's a problem Biotic, if my memory is correct, I think SimGuruGraham confirmed adults and teens are same height.

My teen son is taller than I am, so for me it's not an issue. My only issue is when trying to find a potential mate for my teens. I would like it if we had an age category in the friends list. Meaning that I'd like it if it said child/teen/YA... and so on. But then I can be really lazy when it comes to picking mates for my sims LOL... love the aliens cause they pick my sim .

another possibility that was hinted at by graham was that it opens up the possibility for the preteen life stage later in EP developments.

well you know not all elders become hunched...I assumed since you can choose posture in CAS, if the adult is made as someone who stands tall then when they are an elder they will keep that going. Like in real life, if you were a person who slumped a lot when you get older you are more likely to have back issues / hump back.

Are you sure it's a teen? He looks like a young adult / adult to me and an elder don't look like an elder.. just middle age (adult) Don't you see that they weed out lots of things? ...I think they are lazy.

They took the easiest way out with programming, because they were being pushed to have the game out. Ergo, no new animations needed if teens, elders, and adults/young adults are all the same height...

The only thing that bothers me about the height issue is being able to tell teens and YA from each other at a glance. They were a different height in Sims 3 and I still sometimes made the mistake of chating up a teen when looking for partners for my sims.

To honest though, I'm much more upset about not having toddlers. They added so much story wise, babies were just a pain.

I want to point out, the elders ARE hunched over/"shorter". Look at the line compared to the top of the elders head, it's clearly over the head. The hair just makes the head look longer because it's spiked up.
Edit: And keep in mind, you can change a sims posture so your elder can be hunched if you wanted to.

The height differences don't bother me. I stayed the same height from teen to adult. I was kind of bothered that teens were shorter than adults instead of the same height. I also have no problem about all elders not being hunched over in the game. My grandparents are not hunched over. It seems more realistic to me not to have elders that are not hunched over.

I think 'teens' in past games has been loosely based on the early teens years. By 16-ish most teens are usually similar in height to their parents and (in some places) can be out in the real world earning a wage and living their own lives, so I don't think the height match is a huge issue.

What it has done (for me at least) is spark the thought that perhaps there will be a new life stage, tween or whatever you want to call it, bridging the gap between child and 'teen' where you are awkward, kinda goofy and unsure. I mean .. it's the age where you are too old for kid stuff and too young for adult stuff, so you sort of have to find your own way (for comedic reference .. see Tina Belcher). I think the 'emotions' that the devs are trying to hammer into us would really get to shine in a life phase like this.

Eh, I don't really care about teens being taller. It's an interesting change, that's for sure. It WILL be harder to figure out the age of a sim, though... Hopefully they provide other ways of showing us.

This happened to me all the time. I would pause the game and rotate it so I could get a clear view of the 2 sims so that I wasn't wasting my time chatting up some teenager when I was looking to settle down and start a family.

You know I began to see things a bit more clear. I don't mind about no toddlers nor pools (I still wish to have them in game) but only one thing that bother me is the height. I prefer to see a teen to be shorter a bit than the adults. That's all! I know in real life, most teens are taller than the parents butt.. I'm talking about the game only. I"m used to see teens being shorter than the parents. I bet one day there will be awesome mods to fix the height issue... shrink teenager's height!
