Hi Everyone,
Im starting a forum on CAREERS/PROFESSIONS in The Sims 4!

I personally think there need to be more professions over careers. Actual jobs that we are able to be interactive with.
Here are some ones I would like to see

TEACHER- where you can actually go inside the school and teach different classes, have a timetable or something (even if this was a new expansion that would be awesome!) and the teacher can write on the whiteboard, put kids in the timeout corner, plan the next class, teach class maths, teach class english etc etc.. and you could start of as a substitute and then work your way up and if you are principal you have your own office and you have to plan assemblies, do detention etc. Also with all the new emotions of the Sims 4, people should be able to get counselling and this could be offered at the school. Maybe after a death or something, or bullying- people need counselling.

DOCTOR/NURSE- It can be the same as in The Sims 3, but not in a rabbit hole and much more interactive. You should be able to go around to all the rooms and check up on the patients- have an emergency section etc.

LAWYER- would be a great profession. and high paying also

BABYSITTER (not in your own home though) I don't want it to be like the daycare in the sims 3, because that is just annoying having to make your house a day care, you should be able to go to other peoples houses and babysit their children

We should be able to do the basic jobs like MAID, PIZZA DELIVERY, NEWSPAPER DELIVERY ETC.

Careers are a major part of the game, so i really hope EA do their bit and step up in The Sims 4 ! You can even give us an expansion.. anything.. just much better careers please!!

I like the idea of taking NPC's out of the career force for the most part and making those careers available for sims; however, I think newspaper is a part of the writing career in sims 3. I also like the idea of careers being more interactive. I think sims 3 ambitions showed us some hints at that I think it could be very possible for sims 4.

Yes, I absolutely loved the sims 3 ambitions- but they had such a small range of jobs, and ones that I didn't really like. So hopefully, just hopefully many more jobs will be interactive in the Sims 4 !

I agree, I love the ambitions in Sims3. In addition, the opportunities in relation to careers (and school for children) really helped bring more of your career home. I'd like to have more interactivity when people are at their jobs. I feel like during that time, I'm just kiling time until they are out of work. I'd love to see them actually at work and do some more tasks during the day. I would love to see my sims perform their concert at the stadium or behind the counter at the bookstore.

When I play I'm very stereotypical so I'm not bored while one sim works. I usually have it the man bringing home the bacon and leveling up in his career while the woman cleans cooks and takes care of the children.

Actually no, at least I don't think so I think in the case of a relationship/family everything should be split down the middle evenly. Also I'm rather curious; will there still be a contest winner?

Remember things which were possible in sims 2 free time? Dancer career or basketball player career in sims 4...that would be nice... How happy I would be if everything which was avaiable in this expansion pack could be in sims 4 base game...*.*

I have my doubts, but what if in their expansions they released all previous things plus bringing something new to the table.

yeah, that is what I do! and I just want to be able to see the sim work and it to be so much more interactive!

i sometimes wish for more career variety (whether job or profession) or maybe that each expansion has a little tweak that marries it to the original game. for example, i would have loved for Isla Paradiso to have piggy-backed on the basic science career and created something like a marine biologist. or if Pets created a K-9 police officer or veterinarian (instead of just the hoarder LTWs! ). so the "old" would get a mini update, so to speak. my only guess is that it was too difficult on the programming side, i don't know.

as for jobs vs. professions - i enjoy both. i've personally found some of the professions challenging if you're managing more than one sim in a household, though. i had a family where hubby Brian was a firefighter superhero. This profession is very hands on so my other sims were neglected to a degree while Brian was out saving the town. the rabbit hole jobs don't really bother me that much but after you play them over and over they can get monotonous.

you know what i hated, though? Sims 2 Open for Business. well let's say it hated me. i failed at every business venture i attempted. it was an epic fail for me LOL!

at the risk of being egged, i haven't bought Into the Future yet. I'm quite interested in the astronomer career. has anyone tried that one out yet?

I love the way Into the future looks but haven't purchased for one hasn't got my imagination geared for it and two I can't help but think it might be buggy and slow just because it's so technical. I have island paradise but haven't played yet. I'm really looking forward to playing Ambitions because you can interact with job and Sim. Really looking forward to that. I just love Roaring Heights except for the lagging it would be perfect for me.

It isn't at all buggy; however, I regret buying it for I never really play with it's features, but the content is nice.

Yes I sort of figured it would be that way. Who knows maybe I will eventually with all of the good sales its hard to pass up on them. That's really the reason I got Island paradise but like you I like the added content but have failed to play it.

It's hard to play sims for it takes so damn long to load it's not even worth it.
