The War of the Forums

As you all know, the Sims 4 Forums on the Sims 3 website has been through a bit of a rough patch. And by little I mean it has gone through something I titled "The War of The Forums". (Catchy, right?) Lately we've seen pretty much anything and everything on the forums from name calling towards other fans and EA to having Threads shut down by Moderators cause it's gotten out of control. I want to say that this war started after Gamescom last year and the intense 8 months of silence that followed suit. After that, Gurus started releasing info online and started sharing more videos and pics that made fans just over the top. (That was the beginning of the end) Gurus started backpedaling some of their features that were mentioned LAST YEAR and fans began to speculate the absolute worse and some went to a new level by pleading with other fans to cancel their preorders which we all know is something that everyone is entitled to do on their own. The CAS Demo was released to a certain number of people and was sent into waves so EA could test the servers which again many felt that EA was using favoritism when I say it was completely random. But again if your Pro- Sims 4 than you're labeled as someone who isn't a true fan of the series. Features were cut and fans raged over what was meant to be a step into things that were to come but others saw TS4 as a game that was something NEW and fresh not something to go off of the the previous generations. I'll admit I've had a few words of being upset but I'm completely optimistic because there's no telling what the game is like because we've never had it in our hands to judge. If you don't like it when you get then don't play it again and go back to the previous generations OR If you love it then you can continue on the path of TS4. I'm not telling anyone what to do or bashing anyone, I'm just simply stating the facts.

So let me ask this, does anyone agree or disagree with what I've said? There are no right or wrong answers here

I understand where you're coming from but I wonder if its wise to touch a subject that has turned a forum upside down already. I know unofficial communities are different but do we really want to spread that poison here too? Remember that there's nothing stopping troublemakers from joining this website and it would be a darn shame to see things get out of control simply because someone opened the floodgates for this conversation.

Besides, how many more threads like this do we need? Yesterday we ended up getting 2-3 new threads that are basically rant/vents about how bad and terrible the EA/TS3 forums are... 4, if you include this one too. Why not simply discuss it there if we must?

I do agree with why people are upset. It does seem like we are losing a lot of "key features" in the game. However, I am still excited to see TS4. I am sure there will be some cool new things that we were not expecting. When I was spending time on The Sims 3 site forums, I felt like I was just losing my excitement that I originally had about the game. Everyone's angry posts are just putting me down!

So I will not be returning to those forums. I don't think people who are excited about TS4 are not true fans.

I will be at the game store at 10am on Sept 2 when it opens, and I bet a lot of those complainers on those forums will be doing the same thing ! Haha

I believe a lot of the features that were cut down will be added in future expansion packs. And the base game already has a lot of content. There are tons of activities that the sims can perform. Lots of "premium" items are already shipped in.

I'm sticking to both forums. I tend to ignore all that hatred and still try to find interesting stuff in the official forum.

While the people on the forum are perhaps not expressing it correctly, I agree with them that there are areas that are lacking and things that are disappointing. I was watching some videos, getting excited about some things and the second I went to the forums to see if there was new anything or if people agreed my mood sank. The sentiment I agree with, the delivery I don't.

I'm a huge family player. I like the silly stuff, but when it comes down to it I like telling complex stories with tricky interpersonal relationships. The shift away from family life does make me sad. But there are some things that I'm just jazzed about.

But I've been playing Sims since the original game. I remember the hate that came with Sims 3 and the excitement that bubbled around Sims 2. Just have to wait and see how you like the experience.

I try to respect that some people don't play the way I do, but I also hope that people do the same for me. On the forums a lot of people do tell the naysayers to "shut up and just don't buy it if you don't like the changes" and that's not right either. So hopefully this place isn't just positive, but respectful.
