Exactly, as a contribution to a big company making a big game that everyone's been hoping for every since the third installment; a delay would be the last thing on the mind. You have to think about way more than just some 100 thousand fans who are displeased but in reality, as soon as everything for the previous games stops support, and they see how much fun everyone else is having with the new game, they will buy it anyway.
If you were in EA I'm pretty sure you would risk losing some fans over disappointing everyone, dedicated fans, the company, everyone involved. That's a bigger risk over losing some fans who will later cave in as soon as the first EP launches.

I would be perfectly okay with that. It would be nice if it was possible to just patch in, but I'm fine with buying toddlers in an EP and getting some other cool stuff as well.

Surely that won't be for ages yet though? I mean they've only just completely stopped support for sims 2. :)

Does that mean there would be no supernatural toddlers though? As all Eps need to link back to the base game?

Sometimes EPs have features that work with other EPs, so it's possible.

But you never know though. The sims 2 was actually a really great turn out, but the sims 3....wasn't a very good game due to too many issues but maybe I'm mistaken. That whole discontinued support may not happen for some years like you said but, and this has happened with the sims franchise; those who resisted the game completely would cave in and buy the game as soon as they read the reviews, watch the Let's Play's, and an official much waited for and popular demanded EP comes out.

Who knows the Sims 4 engine isn't like Sims 3 or 2 so we shouldn't worry that much.

Now that i think about it, support for the sims 3 could stop early, they've done their last EP and update

I'm not too sure about that. I hope that they would add that in an EP, but only time will tell I guess ;)

well I believe yes that would be, think of it, it's a whole new life stage. All new animations have to be set for that new life stage to be interact-able, and for Sims to interact with that life stage properly. In the Sims every new life stage has a set of animation pertaining to that age. Like seniors walk around with a hunched back, reminisce about the old days, and etc. If you have generations you know they even can walk around with canes, every Sim life stage has a certain set of animations and interactions that takes producers time and money to perfect, polish, and to send out to make sure that this satisfies customers. I know that must be some back breaking work that animations and interactions have to be set per age group. Teens, in generations, have their own special animation an interactions. Elders, same, toddlers same and so forth. Animations have to be set for everything that a Sim can interact with

But would that be more stress than cutting features? Would a delay upset fans more than cutting? I'm not sure. Dragon Age: Inquisition was originally supposed to be released in September, I think, but we found out recently it's been delayed to November. I've not been a regular on the Bioware forums for a couple of years so can't speak for the feelings there but the people on a Facebook community I use seem ok with it, even if disappointed. Maybe they are just less ranty than sims fans. ;) I also know that Fable 3 was delayed for PC release for months after the preorder release date. I should have got it in late 2011 (I think) but it didn't arrive until the following spring. Even then it was a little bit lacking in comparison to the original Fable. But at the end of the day, I wanted it, so I had to put up with the delay. I think most people would accept that.

I see a lot of people on the Sims forums complaining about the things that have been left out. Few are saying the game took too long to come out. There is even a petition to delay the game until 2015. I don't agree with that, but it seems to have some support. There are people who seem to think delaying the game a while to let EA add toddlers, pools etc would be a good idea, even though EA has expressed no interest in doing so.

In that instance, I really don't know. I'd probably just pick the features that appealed least to me, or release one world and then offer the other up as a free DLC when it was completed.

Oh also I would tell the marketing to do their jobs, because they are clearly not doing nearly as well as they should be.

If anything a delay will not be what EA will do nor will they listen. If I'm mistaken I think that petition only has what? 700 or so signatures and some have replied and said that a delay will do nothing to improve the game. Of course I was at first outraged with the no tots aspect, I could care less about a pool. So I did my homework, after searching over the internet to see if they would be completely cut from the game forever, it was confirmed that tots will indeed be making a whole comeback at some period but pools were not confirmed to ever make a return. Delaying a game for a whole year for two meesly features is just stupid and unnecessary. Tots were confirmed to be back, they just aren't in the layout of the base game. But think about this for a second, if everything from the sims 2 and 3, would that be as fun as imagined? Let alone a stable game? In my own statement, no it wouldn't. In fact that would just be boring to play a game with the same features from 2 and 3 just added into the sims 4, the sims 4 is meant to be a completely new game. Not the sims 2 and 3 squished together in which those unhappy simmers don't seem to understand. If anything, I see something that I've already dabbled with make a return in the game with the same purpose I would get pretty bored and would be returning my game.

Oh yes I know the market sucks but what can you do when you nearly have no money eh? My thing on the whole thing is, no matter what EA could have cut but left in, the simmers would give them hell and back over it. They want the same features that were in the sims 2 and 3 in this game. Answer this for me please? would you really pay 60-70$ for a game that's just the sims 2 and 3 mixed together? I sure wouldn't. that would not be a good game, that's just saying "yea EA just put these features from these two previous games in this game they were suppose to be calling all new, what's so new about that if I've seen this already?" EA would get statements like that from the same unhappy simmers even after they were the ones that had been wanting that same thing in the game and EA listened. I'm happy EA didn't go that route. and I'm even happier they aren't listening to that little petition to delay this game until next year.

Well I can't actually remember where but it was said either on the sims vip sims 4 fact site about one of the producers saying that tots will be making a return soon but pools were not a guarantee to return.

Crow? and that's been a question I wanted to ask for a minute, what would actually be a purpose of a pre-teen? They are the closest thing to a teen so what will they do?
