It's not necessary to routinely do a registry clean, only if you are having computer issues or suspect a file corruption has occurred during install OR if you are trying to completely remove something from your computer. Take for instance Sims 3, you HAVE to do the registry cleaner to completely remove it from your computer. If you are trying to do a fresh reinstall, failing to do this means you are just reinstalling on top of the old one and just wasted your time.

Install it, choose the option to analyze the registry files. Carefully look over what it wants to remove, click yes when it asks if you want to create a backup, perform the action. Restart your computer. Analyze again to make sure it's all clean.

Tada, all traces of the demo are now gone and you don't have to worry about any conflicts or file corruption or whatever when you get the game or the official demo. No idea if this will happen but it might....shrugs.

Ok, so I haven't read everything yet so sorry if this has been repeated, but it does not matter which version demo you have as the gallery and all of that is tied to your Origin acct. So if you saved to the gallery it will still be there even if you uninstall the torrent demo and install the "official" one. But I mean it's all the same. I know this because I had to uninstall and re install the the early access one last night and I thought all of my stuff would be lost, but NOPE all there.

Also just a heads up one thing to try and get it running if you're having issues, is to put it in compatibility mode for Win XP SP3 and run as admin for all users. But of course that's only if your errors aren't specifically about the video card and what not.

Oh i didn't know that could actually be done without getting caught since Origin is often said to be EA's spy since it goes through your files in your computer. I'm going to try that now, I have Origin blocked through firewall Advanced

it is stable I just don't think that either A) The people who are installing it are putting it in the Origin Games folder. Or B) It just simply isn't executable with the type of computer they have which is possibly the problem.

I know for me I had some weird errors with the early access version and I only ever got them when I tried to run the game straight from the icon on the desktop. But of course it ran just fine when I started it thru origin. Probably their way of making sure the demo is legit or whatever I don't know..

My cracked game ins't in the Origin's game folder and it still works. Maybe some people are just missing certain extras they need, like VCRedist, Javas, XNA, Up-to-date drivers, etc. There are a ton of VCredist and XNA versions out there and sometimes the earlier releases aren't at all that helpful, while older versions end up being problem-solvers. A few days ago I came across a brain-wrecking problem that was driving me nuts - Terraria wouldn't start no matter what. I searched up the problem and ended up downloading 4 different types of XNA, deleting previous versions, installing newer ones, deleting them again until I found the right one.

For anyone who has AVG Anti-Virus, you need to DISABLE it in the little notifications bar before you run the demo. I've found that it blocks the demo from starting. I'm not sure if this is an issue with any other anti-virus software. I also have Malwarebytes and that doesn't have a problem with the demo.
Edit: Adding the TS4CAS.exe to the exception list in AVG fixed this problem.

The torrent was stable enough for me, I had no errors while getting it to run. I know for sure a lot of my drivers aren't up-to-date as well.

What I wanted to do was to unzip the file on my Mac and email it across to my PC, when this comes up.



What does it mean ? I'm using Stuffit Expander on my Mac.

I'm not too familiar with Stuffit Expander, so I don't know if it's a reliable decompressor or not for Mac.

Used 7zX, that was the result. Nothing in that folder in the second screen.

Hmm, seems like the download got corrupted while it was downloading, as the original screenshot suggested.

It hurts for me to ask this but do you think re-downloading would do the trick?

This seems a bit more than slightly irresponsible....so i'll just wait 'till the game comes out.

Unless the publicly released one has kids. Then i'll reconsider the demo.
