I have been thinking this too. Cause all the Sims games started out good, the base game I mean. Than got a little bit duller(cause of repetitive stuff) and so EP's came out to CHANGE all that. I respect the Sims team an such to keep on with their "formula" of base game and then EP's. Cause why would people wanna break that chain? Seems weird if they didn't say anything about it for the other titles. An when I mean break the chain, I mean putting all the stuff they had released after the other base games to ALL be included in this one base game of Sims 4. That's a lot of THINGS, if that was the case they would have to make it fair in a way, an make the base game cost something of what it costs to get all EP's all at once. Also in a way for MYSELF, I feel a little bit of repetitiveness in EP's is okay in a way cause it gives you a chance to see all of them in the new Sims 4 style and OF COURSE they would do tweaks to it to be different like different interactions with objects and people. But I keep on thinking if people don't think they may come out with COMPLETELY NEW ORIGINAL stuff packs, Expansion Packs, cause for me I think they would. Cause the Sims 3 they did the Future expansion pack, which was ORIGINAL in the Sims 3 series an others too which consisted of different lands an such. I also believe they may give out stuff in packs that would put more trait slots or whatever. But we would have to wait an see though, cause I am very observant an they put some stuff in their EP's that doesn't even relate to the title of each Ep's main title and slogan, Lol. But to anyone who reads this, this is my own personal opinion of what I believe, this is NOT certain fact, but just ALMOST really promising assumptions from seeing what they did with other Sim games that had offered a lot back in the past.

I can't say the lack of certain features bothers me too much. I'm used to playing MMOs, therefore I'm used to having features added in later on down the line via patches or update downloads. Also, I'm pretty good at viewing the Sims 4 as a completely separate game from the Sims 3, and not automatically assume that it's a sequel and therefore must have everything the original has and more XD I tend to view all games as individual games, even if they're direct sequels though lol.

I am looking forward to the game. For the way I play, the only feature that I miss a little is pools. I'm a family player mostly but I always aged toddlers straight away to children. For ME, what is in the game makes up for what isn't in the game at launch. I'm very excited to try out the build mode. I'm not a good builder so I'm really looking forward to seeing if I can make at least a half decent house and not just a box. I love the way that the neighborhoods look. Oasis Springs is stunning and I can't wait to see it for myself. The Sims look soo much better! Take the Sim in my avatar for instance. That is with NO CC! I would need a boat load of CC to make something even close to that in TS3 and TS2.
I'm glad that they've concentrated more on the Sims themselves in the base game and I'm hoping that the game play with be somewhat similar to TS2. Cuz I could play TS2 for HOURS and not even know it.

So yeah, I'm not one bit turned off by Sims 4. I'm very much looking forward to it and the future SP's and EP's!

To me the biggest turn off is how damn over-exaggerated everything the sims does is. A sim can't pick up a fork without making a goofy dance and a stupid face about it? I know they're trying to give them personality but goddamn.

You've clearly made up your mind already, I'm not going to waste any time trying to convince you otherwise. I'll be playing the game and most likely enjoying it a lot, focusing on what it has rather than what it doesn't.

There are few things that really bother me so much... for example the "height." Teen height is the same as an adult and the elder is a laughable. Teen should be shorter than the parents and the elders should be hunch and others are the same old issues such as toddlers and pools that I truly wish to have them in game. I know you guys want them, too which is 100% understandable. I understand that many of people are/were upset... I was too. Never know they may add them for expansion packs or maybe not... but hey we all live!
On the positive side: I saw the most amazing feature are building, CAS plus the children looks so cute! Sims looks so amazing! That makes me SO excited plus I know there will be mods out there that will shrink the heights or I will mod them later for sure. I can't WAIT to play it... I can't WAIT to build, the family and everything! I am ready for it!

My advice is: If you are not happy/satisfied with The Sims 4... Saying that you won't buy it... then don't buy it because it is not for you. I don't care whatever people buy it or not. Me bought it. Case is fawkin' closed. :barefoot:

Lol I totally agree..right now we are just in CAS DEMO and making young adult Sims..and from the experience of that and seeing the Build Mode ...and seeing the different emotions ..Sept 2nd can't come sooner for me. All I said earlier was that the game the REAL game is not out yet and we can expect some things will be gone and some new things added...We don't even know what to expect cause we might get some good surprises playing Sims 4...just give it a chance folks lol Games are fun Sims is fun..I won't bad mouth the game when I am not even playing it....We will see what happens on Sept 2nd...So far what I have seen and heard from legit sources I'm looking foward to playing and having some fun and finally making some teens and kids and old folks....Sims kids are adorable the expressions are great...if you don't like Sims 4 you can always go back to Sims 3 :D ...

I totally understand why a lot of people are put off by what is taken out of the game because depending on how you play certain things taken out can be limiting, that being said it personally doesn't bother me because the things taken out were either an annoyance to me or I just simply did not use them. But to say it is not at all a different game is too soon, wait until the game is released, play it for awhile and then judge it. I have read plenty of reviews from creatures camp and watched the videos but until you actually play I don't think you can give it that kind of judgement or anyone for that matter. I am optimistic that I will love the game but that could or could not change once I play it.

I love how people are saying people who are telling me off are 'winners'. I asked for opinions on the game missing features not an in-depth personality analyzation for me...

I did not say I wanted better graphics. I actually love these sims... And don't tell me to stick to other titles because the newest installment should be BETTER and have more features. Sure it has emotions and fancy walks but thats just like all the stuff no longer in like family trees, pointless like someone stated above. Im also not wishing for everything to stay the same. I just would've preferred different sized teens and adults than weirder stories.

As I said before, I'm still buying cause I can still have fun but not with the features I got used to for years.

It's only the beginning, we have to wait and see just how TS4 evolves over time.

Me, personally... I firmly believe TS4 will end up bringing a much richer experience to the franchise much later on when we have a lot of game content and EPs/SPs, not to mention the likelihood a lot of our "cut" features we all love and enjoy returning with a much better function.

Some of the things on the list I am glad are not In the game, especially the clown, I hated that clown, ruined my gameplay, and some things I am sure will be added later.
I am very excited for the Sims 4. I do not know why someone would start such a list, to encourage people that the game is bad. meaning they should not buy it, if it is that bad.
There is another list about what is going to be in the game and it is amazing.
I love all the videos, photos and what the ones who have really played have to day.

Ok this whole toddlers and pools and 80+ things being taken out is ridiculous. Like I know you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that but seriously, are you really going to get angry because features were taken out to be replaced with new features? Are you a True Sims fan who is just upset with the base game? Or do you believe that everything should go the Sims fans way and the Sims 4 should have everything that was in the previous game? I'm not being rude here but you aren't the only one who has been complaining about that. Not all of us were too peachy with the news either but we sucked it up because every brand new feature had replaced those pointless features unhappy fans continuously complain about and for what? The Guru's never out right said that some features will NEVER come back, just that they will make a come back later in a period of time. Toddlers will be back since Guru's had said that too but obviously people are still too unhappy.
Again I respect your opinion Sweetie bop but you aren't the only one unhappy here. But I myself am more than excited for this game. If unhappy Simmers would just calm down, do their homework, watch the simmers from creators camp play, and really just open their eyes. They would find that the features they have been complaining about wouldn't even matter to them because they would be so engrossed in the game. Some Simmers, who are all about the scenery, are stoked for this game because of the aspect of how beautiful the scenery of the worlds is, they don't care about features. Simmers who are all about the Sim life would be so caught up in trying out new things they wouldn't even notice....Just give this a chance sweetie. Maybe if we all see some actual reviews then we can all rest a little more easy

Well sweetie we all respect your opinion but I think people were just put off with the way you've said it. I had already responded but kind of gotten carried away. If you want an opinion, I'll give you one. A lot of us here are excited, I've said it before, most of us weren't too peachy when we heard that the sims 4 will exclude a lot of features

It wasn't said in an offensive manner. You can't expect everyone to dig the game when it looks more basic than its predecessor.

Yea I know that I'm not doing anything like telling him to like the game or anything. If he is turned off by TS4 let him be. I don't really care I value his opinion just as much as anyone else does.

I don't think an unfinished game due to deadlines is quite anyone's fault. More an issue with profits and actual time constraints when dealing with certain aspects of game making and how time consuming and costly it is. I don't think the game is rushed, just somewhat missing a few parts due to maybe lack of money in a certain area. I remember reading something about either having to focus on something entirely new, leaving out other things, or forgetting about the idea altogether. I think it's very much a, "Is this worth spending most of our animation/etc. budget on?" and a, "Do we have enough time for this?" kind of deal that went into leaving certain things out over other things they found more important.

My post was merely jest, though I'm still bitter about Dragon Age Dos, though not sure if that was rushed/unfinished as it was probably just a low point in Bioware's games. I enjoyed the game, just wish it were a tad more polished, especially in regards to reusing dungeons. @_@ Ugh, that made the game stale quick. For a "low point" I'd say it was still a fantastic game with a lot of new aspects thrown in the mix. It gave me hope that they were on the right track, but something happened along that way that made it not quite possible to continue with what they were trying to accomplish. Which means I have extremely high hopes for Inquisition and I have a very, very strong feeling that they won't disappoint.

I don't ever think it's fair to call a dev lazy, though, especially when pushed to a deadline. If anything they're overworked and probably have a lot of stress with what they have to get out there, what with budget thrown in the mix. Can't quite fit everything in if you have a limited budget on what animations and features you think will make the game better. I wonder if that's the biggest factor in why they pulled out toddlers and pools in exchange for emotions and smarts.

To be frank, I would take new features over slightly improved old ones pretty much any day. Now, saying that, I would probably have to deal with features that just didn't quite hit the nail and I understand that. However, I'm positive that's not what's going to happen with the Sims 4. What they've shown us so far is a fantastic game and I'm very much looking forward to buying it. The shiny features they implemented in seem to make the game much, much better; I, for one, can't wait to see all the hilarious mishaps occur due to certain things colliding, whether it's figurative or not.

So, does this game turn me off? Not in the slightest; in fact, what they've told us and what they've given has turned me on more than the removal of toddlers and pools turn me off, which wasn't much to begin with. I have faith they'll put whatever they removed back into the game, provided the engine allows them too. Sure, it may cost a bit of money (it may not, e.g. Late Night muscle + breast sliders), but I'm positive it's going to be worth that, especially if the EP adds what they'd left out plus something we've not yet seen in a Sims game. I mean, everything they've done, to focusing on optimization and the load screens means I can run this game smoother on my low end computer, which means I'm a very, very happy customer because I can actually play the game now.

    /endwalloftext

TL;DR: Time and budget constraints suck, sure, but that just means Devs scrutinize and give more priority to what'll be more important to us players, i.e. smarts and emotions. I whole heartedly believe in their decision and think that these new features will add more to the game than reintroducing old, slightly improved features. Plus, I'm positive they won't just say, "No!" to any of the features they removed without very good reason. For example, the Create a Style can't be implemented unless it was in the base game, what with the new engine they've got for the Sims 4. They chose to focus on the new CAS than reintroduce the styles and that was, I believe, the best option they could have taken. The new CAS is amazing. Regardless, that's a perfectly legit reason not to slide it into a future EP or Stuff pack. In short, I have faith in the product EA has currently made and will live with it if it comes out under my expectations, but I think that it'll be quite difficult to disappoint me, especially since we've all been exposed to the gameplay via videos already. Mind you, it looks pretty fantastic already. Especially CAS. Oh my God, don't get me started on that and the fact that I can actually make the Sims that I want now. Glorious addition to TS4 and I'm certain Build mode will be the exact same thing, since I was never that good at building crap in the regular Sims.

P.S. Heard the thing about the loading screens and I'm extremely glad they did that. I don't have a high end computer and it took about 30 minutes for Sims 3 to load up whenever it needed to. Plus, it took longer for it to save the freaking game. >_< What more, it never ran stable and was extremely sluggish due to EPs added and the fact that it had to continuously render the world. Hated that and I think the new sectioned areas will help my low end laptop run the Sims 4 much, much more smoothly. It shouldn't matter to those with high end computers, since it'll load less and more completely, which means it'll probably take under a few seconds to do so. I'd have to test it on my family computer, since it's got a better rig than this laptop.

    EDIT:
I apologize for not specifically stating who I was replying to, if you could call this a reply. Regardless, my post was mostly, if not entirely, in agreement to yours. I'd hate to see someone call a dev lazy without proper evidence to the fact and most of the time (dare I say all of the time) people are just trying to find who to point their finger at. Anyway, yeah, I probably could have replied a lot better and much shorter, but I just wanted to backpedal on my joke. It was merely a joke, especially with people flinging rumors around about EA rushing certain games, etc. Even if it's true, I'm positive they have good reason to do so. So much money goes into constant triple A titles that it'd be stupid not to worry about profits every time one creates a game. I'm sure there are a fair amount of nail biting going on in EA with how many fans seem to be disappointed or turned off completely. :(
