I was looking at my Sim in CAS today, and she seemed a bit chubbier than when I first created her.
Does anyone know if sims can lose or gain weight throughout the game? Without any kind of notification?

They can gain weight, yes! They seem to do it pretty quickly though. I feel like I have to keep my sims jogging more than a normal person would have to in real life. "Smarter sims, Weirder metabolisms."

Yes they can gain and lose weight. Yes there is a notification but not in words, it's tricky to spot it. If a sim is done eating and pats their stomach while standing up, then they gained some weight. An if you workout to lose weight, they will check out their body when done working out to let you know that they lost "some" or "more"(or you can see the changes on their bodies yourself by getting them close to naked in whatever attire like sleeping attire to see the bare skin to tell). If you need a faster way to lose weight and back to normal, their is this cheat. You have to pull up the "cheat typer box" within the game(You do it by pressing, shift key, ctrl, c, at the same time) and type, "testingcheats on"(without quotation marks and add the space) and then you will see it says it is "enabled". Then you type "cas.fulleditmode"(without quotation marks again) and it won't say it is enabled but hold the "shift key" and then click on your sim and click "modify". Then you will enter CAS, and you will be able to morph all their body parts and it will show the results of that morphing when you exit the mode. Hope this helps you a ton. But if you want to take the more harder way and it's only harder if your sims are really big. You need to do cardio workouts like "running" to get slender and using "workout equipment" to build more definition in your muscles and the punching bag counts as one too(Punching bag counts as building muscle definition). But not the treadmill(Treadmill counts as getting slender) though in any type of way. Hope this helps you a lot, I wish you the best of luck. :x3:

    Thanks for the help!
I like to play without cheats, so I'll be taking the hard route :p

Does anyone know if their eating habits have an influence?
Eating salads instead of burgers, etc?

I'm not sure exactly what foods put on weight but I imagine it's just like real life - I'd stick to the garden salads if you want them to stay slim and tender. I make sure that my Sim (who was initially a bit weighty) visits the gym at least once every 2 days. Any more than that and she gets uncomfortable due to working out too much!

I realized that the sims in my household started getting noticeably fat, too. It doesn't matter if you eat reasonably, they still gain weigh if they don't workout. They gain weight after birth too. But I have no idea how to get them to get thin again since its really hard for them to lose weigh at this point.

My sims had been putting on tons of weight like crazy! I first noticed it one sim and tried to have her workout to lose it, but after her pregnancy, she just kept gaining more. It seems easier for them to gain weight than lose. The only ones that didn't gain any weight are the ones that are the more sporty/fitness type.

I do like that they made it easier for sims to gain weight, because it was next to impossible in the other games. And then they could just work out for an hour to lose all of it. My female sim gains her pounds ridiculously though. All I let her eat now are salads and she still manages to get chunky. I don't really mind that much since I like my sims to have some meat on their bones, but the guy in the household eats all the freaking time and he's always slender as can be.
If all sims do have different metabolisms on purpose, then that it pretty cool though.

I had the same problem. here is what i did.... when my sim was hungry i wouldn't let them eat. when they go to work they eat while they are gone so never go to work on a full stomach. when they get REALLY REALLY hungry eat salad.. and go to the gym and run on the treadmill.. my sim got her figure back in 2 sim days :3

AON WILL Thanks for the advice, I have not had my Sim gain weight yet, but I am very glad I read this thread before she did. XD She goes out everyday but she does not exercise. Time to buy her a treadmill!

I haven't had any of my sims get fat (yet), however Kilan did get brolic as hell from digging like a total of 10 rocks. I was a little perplexed about why his head look like it shrunk.

@Korvaz I had to refer to Urban Dictionary for that one. Brolic... LOL! Digging for Sims is harder than it looks.

My sim was back in shape within a few sims days!
She does have the 'Active' trait, this might have something to do with it.
I haven't changed her diet much, just put her on the treadmill when she had nothing to do. I also gave her the reward that makes her have fun while working out, very helpful ^^

I feel it has something to do something with pregnancy since my male sims never seem to gain weight and the females seem to look much chubbier a few days after giving birth.

It also really does matter what they eat. If you eat junk food or other not so healthy food, they put on weight, even if you don't OVER eat. Healthy choices are necessary to stay trim.
