This may seem like a dumb question, but I can't find any sources that verify yes or no for me. All money-making sources say you want to pick traits related to the skill you are trying to make money with, but that leads me to ask:

Do sims actually earn more from skills (like art, writing, etc) and careers by picking related traits?

Sources that say they help speed up learning related skills, add certain positive/negative buffs but none that state they earn you more money. I particularly wanted to know for artists.
For example, if I had a creative, art lover, perfectionist sim, would her paintings be worth more?
The descriptions for those traits are:

Art Lover: These Sims gain powerful Moodlets from Viewing works of art and can Admire Art and Discuss Art in unique ways.
Creative: These Sims tend to be Inspired, can Share Creative Ideas with other Sims, and may become upset if they're not creative for a period of time.
Perfectionist: These Sims take longer to craft items but tend to make them higher quality, gain powerful Moodlets after crafting a high quality item, and gain negative Moodlets after crafting a low quality item.

None say they actually make your sim earn more money from paintings. These traits are fine and dandy, but if my Sim will earn the same for her paintings without them, I'd probably choose different traits. I don't want my sim spending an extra hour on a painting to get the same pay just because she is a perfectionist Sim. >_<

If you do know, is the pay actually notably better?

Thanks all for taking the time to read my question. :3

I think creative means that they'll get inspired more, which could mean they make better paintings while being inspired.
It could also be that they just finish more or take more enjoyment in it.

It seems logical that the perfectionist sim would earn more from selling their items to a collector, because they'd be 'higher quality'

I really doubt it would make a different in actual job-pay.
Sounds like something that needs to be put to the test!

I put it to the test. A very long test that resulted in 255 completed paintings total among 2 groups. >_< ... Lol.
To test if perfectionists made more for the extra time spent on paintings.
    Result:

The perfectionist Sims didn't make more money, but took considerably longer.
Actually the sim that made the most from paintings had these traits: Snob, Lazy, Mean, Dastardly.

All the Sims I tested had the same skills, experience, all had 100 for needs (hunger, sleep, etc) from the cheat and the same mood (inspired) from cheat. (Only difference was traits.) They each painted 20 paintings, all the same type and size.

Out of nine sims, 3 out of 4 that had no useful traits for painting made more money for their paintings than all the art lover/creative/perfectionist sims. Those 3 had more masterpieces than creative, perfectionist sims. (but they took less time to paint!) What's with that?

One Sim inamed Christine had the traits: glutton, essence of flavor, hot-headed, ambitious. She made the most money in her group. Only one sim with
"useful" traits (perfectionist, creative, art-lover) named Yosephene made as many masterpieces as Christine, and she STILL earned less money for them than Christine! Yet Yosephene took generally 30 minutes to an hour longer to paint every time, because she had the perfectionist trait wasting space on her panel.

I did a rematch between Christine and Yosephene and Christine still made more masterpieces and more money than Yosephene the second time.
The lazy slob sim (Anna) that made the most in the second group painted 1 less masterpiece that one of the creative/art lover/perfectionist sims (Erin) but made 5k more for her paintings (in less time.) wth?

It was so stupid. I will definitely not be using the perfectionist trait for my artists. XD

Calculated by each sims total earnings for their 25 paintings.

    Winner: Anna. Earned $25,145.
    Anna has no creative traits.
    Anna's ambition and traits:
    Chief of Mischief
    Dastardly
    Lazy
    Mean
    Slob

    (wow, yep, she won!)

    2nd Place: Sakura. Earned $24,377.
    Sakura has creative traits.
    Sakura is not a perfectionist.
    Sakura's ambition and traits:
    Painter Extraordinaire
    Muser
    Creative
    Art lover
    Ambitious

    3rd Place: Kate. Earned $21,465.
    Kate has no creative traits,
    but is a perfectionist.
    Kate's ambition and traits:
    Fabulously Wealthy
    Business Savvy
    Self-Assured
    Ambitious
    Perfectionist

    4th Place: Erin. Earned $20,860.
    Erin has creative traits,
    and is a perfectionist.
    Erin's ambition and traits:
    Painter Extraordinaire
    Muser
    Creative
    Art-Lover
    Perfectionist

    5th Place: Tessa. Earned $14,610.
    Tessa has creative traits.
    Tessa's ambition and traits:
    Fabulously wealthy
    Business Savvy
    Creative
    Art Lover
    Ambitious
    TESSA JUST SUCKED. XD

Wow that is awesome that you took the time out to do those tests. I always thought that a perfectionist since they take longer on the paintings to make them perfect, they would end up making more money. But yeah, I am a productivity person myself lol.

I'd rather have more $$$ over perfection in my paintings any time lol.
