An accidental death with no sadness

I am sure this is another thing being looked into, but I thought I would share with you all a little story about my sims father accidental death.

My sim Airika fell deeply in love and had gotten married to Kerry Brink and had 2 children (Rhett & Emma) with him. They took residency in Willow Creek and had a very tight bond. At least Airika thought they did. But Kerry had a tendency to stray and had 2 girlfriends on the side. Over time while she was at home taking care of her two young kids, Airika had a sense something was up and eventually found out Kerry got one of his girlfriends pregnant and kicked him out. Kerry moved out and in with his pregnant girlfriend Diane who had left her husband and teenage son for him. They moved to a small 2 bedroom house in Oasis Springs to start fresh.

Rhett and Emma who still loved their father and had a tight bond with him, spent every other weekend over in OS with their dad and Diane. (potential glitch where they stayed the whole weekend without being told "I think its time you leave") They got to meet their little half brother Sterling and see him turn from baby into a child.

A week later, Diane was expecting their 2nd child. So Kerry moved them to a bigger 4 bedroom home in Oasis Springs. Rhett & Emma came to spend a weekend again with them. It was like every other weekend. Getting to spend time with their dad and half brother.

It was Saturday afternoon; Diane was taking a nap; 2nd trimester was rough on her. Rhett was playing a game on the computer, Emma & Sterling were playing a game of chess. Kerry decided to BBQ some burgers for lunch. BBQ started fine and Kerry was just turning the burgers when something sparked. the BBQ caught fire and also Kerry got caught in the fire and was too panicked to be able to extinguish the flames. Everyone else in the house ran out to see what the commotion was and saw the horrible sight of their father/loved one burning to death. I guess Diane wasn't too happy with him, because with her being an adult she had the ability to extinguish the fire. Instead, she moved the children to the front of the house away from the fire and let their father burn to death and have grim reaper take him away. Emma did try pleading with the grim reaper to spare her dads life, but it wasn't enough. I guess his cheating ways caught up to him...
the fire continued for 2 days before I eventually had brought Airika to the site to extinguish the fire.

Now from that story; I am sure you noticed some things just completely wrong. potential glitch wise.
1. the kids having the ability to stay as long as they want without having to "ask to sleep over"
2. no notification of the homeowners saying something along the lines of "I think its time you leave"
3. a brief change in mood to extremely tense due to fire on the lot
4. the inability for children to do anything while fire on the lot.
5. No mood effect of anyone having watched a sim die. Rhett and Emma were Very Tense for 2 hours, but then changed to Happy.
6. I couldn't change households to see if I could get Diane to extinguish the fire because children weren't given the ability to extinguish fires; everything was extremely limited due to "fire on lot"

I only had control of Rhett and Emma because I chose to keep control of them and Airika when Kerry moved out with Diane...
I did try resetting sims, but that didn't work. tried to get them to travel off the lot but couldn't due to "fire on lot"

hope this is something that can be fixed down the road! I hope you at least enjoyed my little story!

Sims not reacting to deaths of loved ones is a known issue.
Were you saying your active household was the children sims, and they were staying at the household of a relative, non-active, so you couldn't have anyone extinguish the fire? That's too bad, and not a very smart way for the developers do design it. Perhaps there's some cheats that would've combated your issues at that moment, but I know not everyone uses cheats for all their games and you shouldn't have to use cheats anyway just to get a fire put out.

The tense emotions are natural reactions to fire in TS4. They come along with a debuff moodlet that can easily be overridden with stronger positive moodlets.

#5 is definitely a glitch. I tested a debug script and made a "stranger" sim die by laughter, the other controllable sims nearby got the "Watched a sim die" sad debuff moodlet.

Yeah the children were the only active household members on the property. I eventually brought an adult sim from my active household to come extinguish the fire. I do use some cheats I didn't think there would be a cheat for stopping the fire on property. Didn't even think of it. But figured it would be a test to see how long the fire would go for before someone might try to extinguish it.

I was just shocked that no one had any negative moodlet of a sim dying..
