Free patches preventing piracy?

This is a 'moment of clarity' that just popped into my head, and I thought we could discuss it...
Do you think the free patches is a way to prevent piracy?

One of my coworkers has an illegally downloaded of the Sims 4, but because of all of the free add ons and patches we get, she's really considering buying the full game.
I mean, if you compare release Sims 4 to current Sims 4, a lot has been added already!
They do it quite cleverly too, only through origin, which only works for legal copies...
We complain about unfinished game releases, but maybe they're being a bit smarter than we think!

Yet it only works for the time the serie is the current installment. After beign complete and fully patched it does not make diference, wich means it is only a partial solution. On other way if you want to aquire a game that does not sell in your country or is long gone from the shops online OR offline for whatever reason, downloading from internet pirate copies is the only way, and even finding a good and working pirate version is Hard as HELL.

There is no way i could possibly get Black&White series since it is not sold anywere other than Amazon and it does not sell games to my country. Trough if i want a game i can aquire trough official way i will do it.

The thing is that even trough there is this specific benefit, EA is likely doing it because of complains from the fans around the internet about TS4 other than anything, because patches aways existed and had this side effect but this is the fist time that patches add this amount of gameplay.

Yes this a smart move E.A/Maxis are doing and copies they won't get all the free bug fix or free content so there missing out on all that never really thought of this. I don't go for copies plus all the free updates i think its E.As way of saying thank you for buying the game that's my thought
