The examples you use are invalid because we do not live in the 1950s, and they do not (very wisely so) include religion into the Sims.
Some very religious people might feel exactly the same as you do about having disabilities in the game.
But if they would add Catholics, they would have to add Protestants, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Scientology, and the list goes on and on and on. And even if they would include every religion in the world (which would be a whole lot of religion!) they would still upset the atheists!
If they were to include wheelchairs, why not crotches, why not amputees, mental health issues, schizophenia, PSD, depression, bipolar, ADD, ADHD etc etc. The list would simply be too long to do it right. If they include deaf people, they'd have to include blind people. There are (however a limited amount) children who never learn to speak. Should they be included? Would they be able to hold certain career paths?
A blind person probably wouldn't do too well as a painter, for example.

I think it would be too much effort.
While I completely understand where you're coming from, I just think it would severely over complicate things.

The world is a mess with religion as is, I wouldn't want that in game at all. And I highly doubt the sims would ever include it.

Technically they opened the idea to wheelchair bound sims, in the sims 3 when they added the canes for adults/elders. As they haven't added the item in previous games. And in one way you can kinda say they do have depression in game, the gloomy trait is quite relatable to it; granted it's not exact. The insane trait, could be related to mental illness but it's all in a simmy fun way. Not to say it's completely making fun of it in the least. In the sims 4 they made it even harder to kill sims, so even if they did add wheelchair bound sims they'd be hard to kill.

As far as deaf and blind people in the sims game, it'd be incredibly difficult to portray, other than possibly having their eyes white, I know not all blind have white eyes, I don't see much of a point, they'd still be able to do everything an able bodied person can do. Like how would you distinguish a deaf or blind sim from a normal sim, you can't really. They're just normal people, just lacking a sense of either sight or hearing.

Huh, I really don't get why sexual orientation is being compared to physical disabilities/impairments. This bums me out quite a bit.

I understand that some people want everyone to be able to be fully represented in the game. Here's the thing though, this will never happen. No one will ever be able to have a sim self that is exactly like them down to every detail. There are big things in my life that have made me who I am, but I definitely do not want some of them to be represented in this video game series. It's about escapism, and I personally do not want tremendous amounts of time to be spent programing physical impairements, mental impairments, traumatic events, or diseases.

If disneygirl wants a wheelchair in her game so bad then she can mod it by herself or ask someone who will create it just for her game only. Problem solved.

Actually, you harassed everyone and every forum you posted, Madame Lee, Celoptra or disneygirl. Many forums banned you because of your action. You gotta to learn to stop because it is not funny anymore. We are talking... we have to disagree to agree. That's it. Calm down.

First of all, we all know the reason(s) why. It is a touchie subject, so there really is no need to ask such a question. Why not ask also other things left out in the Sims series? Wife beating and or child beating, disfigured sims and or ones with missing limbs, retardation, diseases, alcoholism and or drug abuse, rape, and others. If you think, well one in a wheel chair or a cane is nowhere near the same as the some mentioned, you are right. Yes, they are very different, but share one thing in common, all controversial. Or ask why isn't there child to child and or child to adult woo-hoo. I mean duh, again we know why. And why stop at The Sims series? Shouldn't we have a sports game of Special Olympics? How about the main hero from any future Final Fantasy game crippled in some way? Or how about some single player dungeon crawler or hack and slash one with a character you create, disfuguered? either born that way or was burned badly some time later in his or her life, as a back story. No, I'm not being silly, an asshole, funny, a jerk. I'm being realistic. And I just don't buy the fact "alot of people would like to see disabled sims in game." Oh yeah? Really now? Every one person who has something physically wrong with them, missing leg, blind, parents of a child that is retarded, and so on want to be normal. People play games, read books, comics, watch TV and movies as a short repreive, to escape, not to be reminded, "aw shit, my kid needs new gym shoes, how long is this going to take? fudge, dropped my I-Pad, how much is this gonna cost me,
Where did I last leave my wallet.....again?" If you want things closer to reality, then one should not be playing PC and or console games, one should be playing real life instead. I know that some of the things I typed here are a repeatitive of things I typed earlier, this is how-ever an extended, and hopefuly better thought out one. Another fucking DUH, as in we know again the answer, this time though, to the 10th power, gaming companies avoid it simply because they don't want to rock the boat, cause controversy. And disneygirl, quit fucking spazing out.

To be fair, there are other games that do cover these touchier subjects. I can't remember what they are calling them, but there was an article in game informer a month or two ago. Some of them are very good. You need to be in the mood for them, and sims does not have the correct tone it level of seriousness needed.

There is one example i can think of. Last year or the year before one of those Japanese (?) dating games had an entire dating game centred around people with disabilities and they didn't use negative stereotypes at all.

@thechoosenone google sims and disablities and you can see how often its reguested. A Yahoo question is 'why are disablities ignore in sims?" and on a Sims 3 thread there was one person who did actually have a missing leg (due to pregancy) and during Sims 2 he said on a thread he tried to saw off the sims' leg but ended up a ghost. I mean on the actually forum you can't go like 2-3 months without a disabilities thread either popping up or a dead thread being nercothread? And out of them only two threads were made by me. In the past other companies did try to sell disabled dolls. Mattel did try to sell a Barbie who name was Becky and she was in awheelchair. And she flew off the shelves. But Mattel didn't want to re-model Barbie's home or van (so Becky was bascially the friend who couldn't go where Barbie went) so they eventually took Becky out of their line up. Currently (I'm not asking for Down Syndrome to be in the game) but there's a woman who had at the time of the article sold over 1,000 orders of dolls resenting Down Syndrome and at the time had another 1,000 pre-orders. Mattel did the other year give way some bald Barbie dolls because iof a viral campiagan by those girls who either lost their hair or knew someone who lost their hair due to cancer. Yes there are some people who play the game to escape-I do since at least then I can have a boyfriend. But to my view point the world doesn't seem perfect unless there was disabilities. I was raised in a society of disabled people and to me and freakyteen it not right that disablities are excluded from the sims. You and Queen might disagree but you're allowed to disagree.

@the OP But if wheelchairs were added people would start to suggest that cancer or heart attacks be included. There has to be a line that had to be drawn at some point. Yes

But that's the thing, if you add disabilities you can't actually draw a line where it will stop. If it seems unfair now it is never going to go away and people will constantly be upset about the things that the Sims does not offer. One issue is not more important than the other, if you add one you have to add them all.

Disability has nothing to do with race, sex, religion, creed, et cetera.
When you are talking about something like this, you can't just portion out anything you don't want to hear. You can't avoid the fact that there's disabilities out there that render people severely disabled physically or cognitively.

And even if disabilities were truly as simple as you've been making them sound, the decision is still highly based on mass appeal. There's nothing close to mass appeal on this subject. I admire that you are trying your best to stand up for something you believe in, but just consider all the elements here.

I don't think it would add any "pluses" to the game. There are more important features that should have/should be added.

I really don't think that was meant to imply that deafness and muteness always go together. It's really not fair to assume they meant that and respond so harshly.

Political correct and sensitiveness in excess are bullsh*t reasons for not including content in game and is the reason why many features have not being inserted and why many aspects of the game have beign dumbed down by the years as well.

The Urbz included a wheelchair guy, and he totally did not care, nor does any character in the game, he is one of the coolest sims in the town and he is also part of a Thesims2 PSP, a game that also included a religious group, same thing for TSM, a game that had injuries, mortal sickness, politcs, religion, combat and even murder, yet it had a T rating. And yes, this topic has totally everything to do wit these subjects when it comes to inserting related content into thesims games.

There are many aspects of the game that i dont make use of and i am sure others dont make use of because they dont want , people are way too much intromised in what others want to play with, i do vote yes but i do agree with PlumDrop that there are more intersting aspects that could be inserted before and if i had to pick up one of these "Touchy" subjects myself to include i would go with politics and religion first but i say that the mainstream aspects of Thesims series should come in first place such seasons, pets, etc.

    #On a side Note :

Really, the whole "Perfect Lifes" aspect of Thesims4 and Thesims3 worlds are the reason why they feel rather cheesy and boring when compared to the more dark, dramatic and realistic lifes of Thesims2-Era games with sims that had a biography that prompted the player to go play and help them and get involved and see their happyness ,despiste their problems, as a sucess....and often resulting in one million fanficts about these...

I personally would love to see that in a game since I am now in a wheelchair...I would have so much fun. They could make it so you could do wheelies and have just as much fun as anyone else on the game..I think it would be a blast. It would give life a lot more fun in this world, and if you don't see it that way then you always have the option not to buy it. I'm sure they wouldn't make it harsh in any way or insensitive to anyone...I personally love the idea!! :celebrate:

As crazy as the sims is I could see them adding wheelchairs just so sims can race each other in them, even if they're not actually handicapped (that'd be entertaining), wheelchairs or not though, I still want ramps in my game. I wanted ramps in TS3 so I could use them in my venues and gardens (plus you can put them next to stairs and it still looks nice)

I think it's a nice, realistic idea, I'm just not sure that everyone will appreciate it for what it is. A lot of younger users could use it in a mocking context and make inappropriate or offensive videos for YouTube etc. which would cause a rumpus. Goodness knows there are enough sick videos etc. like that already...I'm 50-50 on this.
