I personally like the hair. It lets me make cartoony characters. I actually had a friend go to sims camp and he made a quite attractive young sim. You can either make them realistic or cartoony, its your choice. To me, the hair problem seems to be coming from short female hairstyles. The male ones I see aren't that bad.

I really hope they'll show off the different ages

SimsVIP @ E3 2014

SimsVIP will be attending this year’s E3 Expo as a member of the press, and will have special access to exhibitors and their products. Our main focus will be The Sims 4, however, we will also be checking out other booths and reporting back on the latest and greatest from the show floor.

We have set up appointments and interviews with many of the E3 exhibitors, and have been invited to attend the Microsoft, Sony, & Ubisoft Press Conferences on June 9th. Electronic Arts also contacted us to set up press conference attendance and booth tours, and we’re just waiting on their confirmation.

*Update* – EA has confirmed our attendance at their E3 Press Conference, and reserved us a time slot for a VIP Booth Tour on June 11th, 2014.

PRE-E3 EXPECTATIONS

As E3 is getting near, and Maxis has gone back to being all secretive, I decided to make this post a pre-E3 expectations

• . Some of these things I think will happen or are likely to happen or I want them to happen.
  
  So, let’s start with:
  
  1. Socializing skills - We know Woohoo skill is happening, and in Olympus flash demo there was a romance skill, so perhaps Sims would have greater chance of social success if they work on their socializing skills, both romantic and friendly.
  2. No rabbitholes - Ok, there are some people who are saying “No way, there must be at least some rabbitholes”.. but not really. We learned that work is handled by events [among other things] and rabbitholes only took too much space. They were visually beautiful, but I always hated the fact there was no functionality to them. In TS4, ideally, there would be no rabbitholes, just community and residential lots. For work, Sims would drive out of the world or something. That would save us valuable space in the world.
  3. A not-so-open world - Players who are familiar with The Sims 3 (and I think it’s the majority of people following me) are familiar with the term open world. I think that The Sims 4 won’t really have the same open world as The Sims 3. I think it’ll be something in between open and closed world. Maybe divided in sections, or community lots are separated via loading screens or something from the residential areas. I just hope that if the world isn’t open completely that the loading times are less than 15 seconds. Thinking back to The Sims 3, it sometimes took my Sims 30 sim-minutes to get from house to the car, and then another 30 to get to the location. If TS4 runs smoothly, then the waiting times shouldn’t be a problem as we’re already waiting, just in a different way.
  4. Non-lot parks - In multiple screenshots (and by that I mean all possible outdoors screenshots and footage we’ve seen) there are benches, trashcans etc. What I’d like to have is locations where Sims could hang out at that aren’t lots, but just a space in the world where you can picnic or barbecue. If Sims can use those benches, why not be able to use a bbq set?
  5. More than 3 backgrounds - if the city scape we’ve seen in CAS trailer is indeed a world background, I want to see more than 3 (because earlier in 2013 it was mentioned Sims can live in of the three environments). Worlds can be very varied, and if we decide to make a tropical themed world (rebuilding houses and stuff), I can’t see how old-town or city scape backgrounds would fit. Or, even better, custom backgrounds as just .png files we add to the game. (yeah, Everborn, keep dreaming)
  6. Online multiplayer - this one I want and I think it’ll happen. Not sure how or in what form, but definitely think it’s happening. Olympus, The Yibsim Simposium, “online social gameplay”. It’s kinda enough to convince me.

I agree with some and disagree with some of those personally.

I don't want a online mulitiplayer thing, at least not where I had to depend on people get some items or do some things like sims social. I would end up not getting anything done. It should be a separate thing/option.

I do like the idea of a bit less rabbit-holes and a semi-open world so it isn't so empty. A lot of those other things sound good too.

I really want to see more of the world and gameplay.

If you played classic PS and Xbox games and such, you'd know that most games had online play but it was optional and it didn't affect the game. The Sims 4 could have two modes, Offline Play and Online Play. Online would only load when online happens.

Although I doubt they would restart something like that. They did the sims social but it was limited. When they had The Sims Online, people were stealing simoleons, woohooing for money, then EA went full on money hungry and merged all neighbourhoods into one big EA Land.

What are rabbit holes and open/closed worlds?

Rabbit holes came with the open world in the sims 3. Not sure if they only belong there or not ......................................
