Maybe I'm just crazy

    I am a new user to the sims 4 game and I ran into a potential problem that is very upsetting, or maybe I'm just doing something wrong. I moved myself into Newcrest and set my house and my person up and my world is filled with nothing but empty lots. When I request to travel I can only choose the empty slots in my world...so there is no town now? In sims 3 they had many empty lots for you to fill as well as an entire town to work with. I could maybe understand if I was to create my own world and own town but there aren't enough empty slots for you to put businesses and residential housing. Am I missing something here?

    Newcrest is an empty town. You can only travel to other destinations with the expansion packs etc.
