Hello everyone! This is my first post here on The Sims forums, even though I am a major fan of The Sims. Anyway, onto the topic of this post. Basically, I wanted to talk about my personal opinions about want has been known/rumored about The Sims 4. Also, post your opinions in the comments, because I would love to here all of your opinions. Get ready for a longish post!
    • Create-A-Sim
Ok, I would like to start off by saying, I am incredibly excited for The Sims 4, mainly because of the new Create-A-Sim and Build mode. The Create-A-Sim looks absolutely amazing. The drag function looks great and I love how the sims can be molded as if they were clay. A suggestion that I have is to have a similar drag function with the hair to where the player can move the hair around on the head/body and make more accurate hairstyles, but they should keep a list of presets so that they can keep it simple but allow for more in-depth tuning. It would also be cool to have a way to make personalized clothes by letting the player design their clothes with things like sleeve length, color, graphic, etc. They don't have to have those things, because as long as the Create-A-Sim is good, extensive, and fun to use, I'll be completely fine with it. Overall, I'm looking forward to the Create-A-Sim.
    • Build Mode
The Build Mode in The Sims 4 also looks just as amazing as the Create-A-Sim. The ability to easily drag walls looks great. Moving the height of the foundations looks very helpful. Moving entire rooms seems like a breeze. Being able to drag out walls and having the room scale with it looks great. The roof tool looks awesome. The windows look fun to play with. Wall heights are amazing. Terrain tools look as good as ever. Pre-made rooms make choosing a style for a house a little bit easier. I honestly don't have any recommendations for the build mode. It looks much easier to make something decent looking and it looks fun to use.
    • Sim Stories/Emotions/Personalities
I've decided to bunch these into a single category because of how they tie in with each other. First, the emotions look amazingly amazing. (if you can't tell, I like the word amazing) The way that the characters interact with each other and how they respond to other peoples emotions and personalities with their personalities and emotions is just amazing. I am a little sad the their is only three traits instead of five and there, but the lifetime wishes and their extra trait really makes that a lot better. The added trait gives a lot more life to the lifetime wish because it helps that sim to achieve his/her lifetime wish, giving the lifetime wish a lot more thought and value. I'm also a fan of how the stories will turn out, because I've always been a big fan of how the stories turn out in the sims.
    • Negative stuff
With every game there is always something that will draw people away from it. Here, I will list some things that people are seeing as negative and I'll shout my opinion about that.
    1. No Pools: I never really cared about pools in The Sims because they have never really had any use to me except for drowning people.
    2. No Create-A-Style: Now this makes me a bit upset because I loved the Create-A-Style in The Sims 3 because it allowed me to create custom wall and floor patterns, so removing it is a little bit upsetting.
    3. No Story Progression: This is another thing that makes me upset because story progression made the entire world feel vibrant and alive in The Sims 3. The game was so much better in my opinion and it kept the game a little bit more fresh to me.
    4. Graphics: I have no problem whatsoever with the graphics in The Sims 4 and strongly prefer them to The Sims 3's graphics.
    5. Loading between lots: I personally don't see the problem with this because as long as I can go wherever I want, whenever I want, I'm fine with it.
    • Conclusion
After doing lots of looking through news about The Sims 4, I can safely say that, even though I am excited for the game, I am not going to preorder it or buy it at launch. I am most likely going to wait for a few weeks and buy it near the end of September so I can wait for reviews. Between the awesome Create-A-Sim and Build Mode though, The wait time might not be long. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to spam-click refresh on both my email and Origin at the same time waiting for an invite to Create-A-Sim.

As far as CAS it's one of the most important points in the game for me, and the Sims 4 goes above and beyond in that category. I love the sculpting you can do with the face in the body. I feel like I can make my Sims more diverse and unique than ever, unlike Sims 3 where I felt like they all looked too alike. Also the hairstyles and clothing are current to today's times and I love that hats are separate! The boots that conform to the style of pants and the ability to layer accessories is fantastic. You can just tell that tons of effort was put into the CAS and it's going to be wonderful (if I EVER get that demo, lol.)

Build mode is super important to me as building homes is one of my favorite things in the Sims. I don't feel like I've seen enough of it yet, but it seems to have many features of CAS; intuitive, fast, and easy to sculpt into whatever you envision, and that's always a great thing. Also the wall and foundation heights thing is AWESOME.

I'm pretty upset about the no pools and no toddlers, but I don't see myself missing it TOO much. I'm not too thrilled about the whole Sims 2-style loadscreens between lots thing and that's probably my biggest complaint, but maybe I won't care too much once I get going. Also the death by laughter think I'm crazy about either.

All in all, I'm WAY more excited for the game than I was at first and I can't wait to play the demo and the actual game on Sept. 2!

Kinda forgot about death by laughter. I'm glad they're adding in new deaths, but dieing by laughter might just end up being an annoyance. I hope you can either disable certain deaths or have that death be extremely rare, like the meteor strike. From what I can see, it will be either a fairly common death, or they are just focusing on it.
I also feel like what they have done, they have focused on rather than trying to fit everything in like pools, Create-A-Style, etc. So I have a lot of faith that The Sims 4 will be a great Sims game and maybe even one of the best. I am curious about the music though and what direction they took with that, if anyone knows.

Ok, I'm happy with that. Though that might be a bit of a problem for me because I'll sometimes just sit there and watch what the sims do and I sometimes forget that I'm playing the game and go off to do something. Also, I looked at the at the link that you sent me and I'm happy about the crafting skill and the map view. New things that make me want the game more.

I couldn't agree with this statement more. I like to have fun with my Sims (I mean, after all...this is a 'game', right?)...trails of sims dying by laughter is just going to kill out everything I create if it happens on a regular basis.

Yeah, I felt like that as well. I thought that a death by a emotion would become fairly common if it wasn't regulated. I never really liked the times random death happened because when it happened it felt like the game cheated me in a way. The game felt like when an unfair platformer throws in a random death that you could never see coming and you get angry because it took you forever to get there, etc. It just ends up feeling like the game said "Hey, buddy! You're dead now!" It just doesn't feel fair, you know?

The devs mentioned that the death by laughter in the trailer was tweaked so people could see what happens, but worry not because the launched game is going to be toned down, to the point these deaths are nothing more than a rare occurrence. Probably nearly as rare as getting hit by a random falling satellite in TS3.

To quote from Korvaz's link "There will be a notification well before a Sim dies, essentially saying, “If you keep doing ____, your Sim will die of _____…so stop!” If a Sim dies, it is 100% the players fault."

Well, that's good to know. I guess I should have figured it was staged that way just to show the end result, but it had me nervous for a bit...
