Your current version of The Sims 2 will lose technical support on July 22, 2014. We want you to have the most up-to-date version of The Sims 2 in your collection, so you will see a brand new addition to your Origin library: The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection.
This is the most up-to-date version of The Sims 2 and the version that is still supported by Origin. It also features a lot more content than you may already have in your current version of The Sims 2.
The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection will appear in your Origin library automatically. You'll need to download and install it to your computer to play it.
You're free to continue playing your existing version of The Sims 2, but please note that it is an older edition of the game that will soon lose technical support. To continue receiving support on your progress of The Sims 2 — including Sims characters, houses, etc. — you will need to transfer your save files of The Sims 2 to the Ultimate Edition. Once you've migrated your Sims' lives to The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, you can better organize your Origin game library by hiding your previous version of The Sims 2. I got an email saying I would get a copy of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, but I can’t find it in my library?
The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection is going out to gamers right now. Everyone who had a digital copy ofThe Sims 2 will find the Ultimate Collection in their library within the next 5 days. Just log in to Origin and visit your My Games library. Note: If you have an EP/SP on Origin you are fine. If you have The Sims 2 Store Edition, you won't receive it because that was a client and not a part of the game.
I hear that you are no longer supporting The Sims 2. What does that mean?
Going forward, EA will no longer be providing any new content or making any additional technical updates to The Sims 2. If you have a problem with your game, you are of course still welcome to contact us here at EA Help.

How do I get the Ultimate Collection if I have the retail copy?
Contact EA support at: http://eahelp.ea.com/en/. Be prepared to provide them your game codes, a picture of the game codes, or information on The Sims 2 account you registered your games on. If you try to register your games through the Origin client, they will not register. A game advisor will add the Ultimate Collection to your Origin. If you can't get the help you need, try again with a different advisor.

Why does it say "Fun With Pets" when I load up the game instead of Ultimate Collection?
Fun with Pets was the last game released so the splash screen reflects this. They may fix the splash screen on the next update.
Why does my game get stuck on the splash screen the first time I load it up?
The first time your load up the game, the game has to create new folders. This may cause you to get stuck on the splash screen for 10+ minutes. Don't worry, your game will load. If you game does not load in 30 minutes or it crashes, please contact EA for further assistance.

At this time, all Origin customers who had previously registered their copy of The Sims 2 should now have the newly remastered The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection in their Origin My Games library.
We know that there are a lot of fans of The Sims who may not have had their copy of the game registered on Origin, and we want to reward The Sims fans for their incredible loyalty and commitment to the franchise.
As a result, we are developing an easy way for any eligible customer who owns a physical disc copy of The Sims 2 to upgrade easily to the new Ultimate Collection edition.
