For the first time ever, I'm gonna give this legacy thing a whirl! Meet the Westons...
From left to right we have newly aged up Selena (the back of her head anyway. Apologies for that but all other angles were at least partially obstructed. I'll post better pics later), Rico & Juan making some noise, little Carlos in the foreground looking lost, daddy Archie, Rosalina and mamá Corina.

Backstory: Bridgeport's lonely, nerdy, Private Eye Archie Weston decided to attend college for a change of scenery (and to fulfill his lifetime wish). He was quite studious but managed time to date around a bit. Stepping outside of his social comfort zone, he attended one of Corina's keggers and it was love at first sight! He knew the beautiful jock was waaayyy out of his league but he also knew he'd regret it forever if he didn't at least try. Maintaining his integrity and his reputation, he asked his current steady to just be friends and took a chance with Corina. Much to his surprise, she agreed to a date and he had her at hello! Thus began the saga of the Beauty and the Geek.

Archie fulfilled his lifetime wish of graduating with a perfect GPA but that diploma on the wall didn't keep him warm at night. Bridgeport's most ingenious and socially awkward bachelor longed for his lovely Corina! He invited her to town and after a whirlwind two-day affair they married in a private ceremony...and he soon learned that her lifetime wish was to be Surrounded by Family! With a twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face, they got bizzayy! They upgraded from their cozy downtown apartment to a lovely three bedroom, kid-friendly home, complete with a tree-house and slip-and-slide. Bonus that it was strategically located within walking distance from the park and the local school. In no time at all they had their five: Juan, Rico, Rosalina, Selena and Carlos.

Archie's Technology degree allowed him the flexibility to change careers (for now): he ditched the hectic private eye work schedule in favor of the more predictable Video Game Engineer so he could help his beloved Corina out with the little ones. Corina put her career on hold to care for the family of her dreams. (Still a young adult, however, she has plenty of time for a career and going back to college herself. Corina has already mastered cooking, logic, athletics and painting so the world is her oyster!)

Fast forward to present day: Archie and Corina recently celebrated their two-year anniversary. Juan, Rico and Rosalina are young adults and will be heading off to university en masse any day now. Selena is still enjoying her teen years and Carlos will soon join her.

Juan has achieved his lifetime wish of Perfect Mind, Perfect Body but remains undecided on a college major or career path. He may stick with the easy sports path by becoming a Superstar Athlete or decide to choose something in law enforcement. Then again, being an astronaut would be very cool...

Rico, already a published science fiction author, will write his outgoing personality right into the spotlight as Bridgeport's next Star News Anchor.

Rosalina loves being a celebrity (except for those nasty rumors) and has channeled her artistic talent into music prowess and fantasizes of becoming a Hit Movie Composer.

Selena's inquisitive mind wants to know! She plans to resurrect daddy's investigative origins by bravely delving into a world of espionage and intrigue...she wants to be an International Super Spy.

Young Carlos is still finding himself and idolizes his closest sibling (big sis Selena) but he's more bookish and artsy than athletic. Also interested in law enforcement, he'll more than likely opt for the "safer" career of Forensics Specialist - Dynamic DNA Profiler.

And there you have the Westons in a nutshell...a very large nutshell.

    Stay tuned!

I adore the storyline, geek and goddess...I've always liked that too good to be true combination, wish I saw it more often in real life.
I'm following this post, look forward to reading more ^-^

    Thanks, everyone.

I can't take credit for decorating...it was a drag & drop house and that i edited just a little (toned down the neon green and orange slightly). I do plan to add more pics but I'm trying to figure out how to minimize them without too much work (game is on my home desktop but photoshop elements is on my work laptop).

Not much of an update on the fam today...last night i sent the three elder children off to college but i really didn't get in much play time.

i think it's a standard house maybe from the Pets EP (it looks very Appaloosa Plainsy to me)...i just picked it from the edit town choices because it had enough bedrooms for everyone. i'll double check when i get home and post more house pics

Rico, Juan and Rosalina decided to celebrate passing their first exams by heading to a kegger. Unfortunately, the party was dead. Rosie tried livening things up with a few tunes on her guitar and Juan experienced his first juice keg stand with the help of his little sis, but once Rico sat down at the kitchen table to read a book (with their host who was playing games on his laptop) they all knew it was time to go.

A bit deflated from the party, they spent the rest of their weekend hanging out at the house improving some skills, studying, maintaining their celebrity bodies, hanging holiday lights and enjoying the first snow of the season with friends. Onward to the next semester!

With sadness I report to everyone following this legacy that the Westons are no more. ALL of my Sims are, in fact, gone.

My pc had a conflict with a Windows update and crashed. The only viable solution was to wipe my computer clean of all software (including the OS) and reinstall. Illogicaly, I had hoped they'd still be there but in the back of my mind I knew they wouldn't.

I logged in to TS3 this morning after loading the last of my expansions and confirmed that I am indeed starting with a clean slate. I have ZERO Sims.

Even though I do understand that they aren't real, I'm still sad. (moment of silence)

SO!!! When I have some fun new Sims established, we'll try this again! Happy simming everyone!

Hello, all. I'm slowly creating new Sims to play after my computer crash. I don't love any of them yet and in fact have already deleted many after only a few days of play. I'm frustrated a tiny bit because my son has decided to play and we only have the one account so if he's playing then I can't! Why did he have to like my game? LOL

I may have found one or two keepers but I'm leaning towards starting a new legacy thread with my Thief-In-Training Carynne (my son named her after one of his classmates). My personal challenge with her is that I decided to NOT use a money cheat which I pretty much always use. She lives in Bridgeport and is doing pretty well for herself so far in her dinky apartment. She's the first klepto I've ever played and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with some of the items she's stolen but she's definitely fun! There is a glitch in my game, though, which is making her a tad frustrating: every time she gets arrested (which I find hilarious) she gets part way up the steps to the police station and then the stairs kind of suck her in and she gets stuck there. She never makes it to lock-up and I can't make her move anywhere else. I've had to use "resetSim" twice now. I'm also ashamed to admit that I've reset her traits twice to make it easier for her to get promoted. Admittedly, I'm a perfectionist and very impatient.

Anyway, let me know if you're interested in her story and I'll start a new legacy thread! The other toons I'm playing are a Superstar Actor and an Astronaut in case you like those better. None have families yet...just single girls doing their thing!

That is most unfortunate. That has happened to me as well. The best I can suggest is to copy the town file or the whole file on a USB flash drive... a back-up... and do that after every save (or at least after every time you close the game). Although I haven't been following my own advice (I'd need to go buy a new flash drive...) but it would have helped during the first legacy I started a couple years ago and then everything crashed and I lost it all starting with Zoraida de la Fuente. I didn't get very far, but... I lost Zoraida =/.

I'm interested in her story although I love Superstar Actors and Astronauts too. Very good choices there! As for your son playing you could always get him his own... or when sims4 comes out, if you want to play that, he can play your sims3. I think this is why some people get the disks... one computer has origins and the other uses the discs, but if you only have one computer, now that makes things difficult.

I'm getting quite frustrated by my current legacy although the frustration is of my own creation. I was trying to keep all of my siblings' families/homes current so after I had moved someone out and played them for a while, I was copying and pasting updated versions back into the original and into the other offshoot games (i.e. - after major life event like a marriage, a moving homes, birth of child/ren, etc.). I was hoping to create cousins, in-laws, grandchildren, etc., while maintaining my God-like control over them all! It was fine at first, but when I started copying and pasting the updated families it all went to you-know-where in a handbasket because they no longer remembered their family! I was really creeped out when a brother & sister started flirting with each other at what I thought was a family birthday party! Poor messed up family...and I did it! It's all my fault.

So originally I moved them out, then switched households in Edit Town, then saved as something new. That part was fine. It was after copying the updated families back in to the original (and other saved games) that things started going awry. It seems like all I can do now is learn from my mistakes. Or create some families ready for an episode of Jerry Springer!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or have I doomed my sims to amnesia-induced incest with no actual "legacy"?

I'm not blaming the Sims games on my crash. I'm blaming my custom built gaming PC. I've had problems since I bought it. And since my hard drive went belly up last night, I'm hoping the replacement is more reliable. We shall see...
