I am having technical problems with my Sims 4. I have Windows 7 and is up to date on drivers. I have pink and blue lines across the screen over the play buttons, create buttons, etc. How do I fix this?

My Sims 4 game has a lot of glitches already  I don't understand why. I have a completely brand new physical copy bought the exact release date... My sims will turn pitch black and so will some objects as well as the glitching lines - familiarly seen in the previous TS3. I have to keep ending process of "task" without actually having a long time of enjoyment of story progression :wtf2:

Day one when I installed (which btw took a horrendously long time with a few errors to have to start re-installing once again :bawling:) game worked smoothly while building - though a few hours into it some windows turned pitch black too. Yesterday was day three of playing and glitching has gone haywire :arghh:

My laptop is a Windows 7 and definitely not a high-end one, with 4GB of memory - though I only have intel core i3. Thought this game was supposed to run more smoothly with low-end PC. Should I hold off playing until I get a new computer (which may take several months to a year because I don't have that kind of money)? Or is there another way this problem can be fixed :anyone:

Thank you for your time :nailbiting::unsure:

Sounds like it could be graphic issues. What's your current graphic card brand and model? I'll do a bit of searching around.

I wonder if this could be one of those conflicting graphics card issues that seems to be causing the deformed-baby problem too ...

Where do you find out about what graphic card brand and model ? Hopefully I don't have to take it out of laptop if that is the case... Or if I had to buy a new one, wouldn't it be expensive and hard to figure out how to put back in ? Or should I just wait to get a brand new computer with even better graphics ????? Thank you for the reply :D

Start Menu > Search "Run" or "dxdiag" > Click Display Tab and screenshot the device box

Thank you. Will check out and let you know... Though I had readjusted game options to laptop run, and game seems to respond smoothly :)

Could you post a screenshot of the same, but on the display tab? That's where the graphics card info will be :)

Could you do the same please Connie?

    I FIGURED IT OUT!

Go to control panel, hardware and sound, choose device manager, choose display adapters drop down menu, right click the driver, then choose search for update. After your computer updates and restarts it will be fixed! Now my game is working and the annoying lines are gone!

    :D :D :D

Yeah, Emma is right :) just switch to the display tab and take another piccy :) I have a feeling its Intel HD graphics as most budget laptops have these days. The few laptops that do actually have dedicated graphics cards are the more expensive ones which very few people have.

Thanks buddy! Very helpful! I've thought of buying a new pc due to this graphic card...Intel(R) HD Graphics. But now it works, I update the software and restart just like you said, Thanks a lot!!

@Kllowery2 , @Lauren reeve , @skylar : Are you guys using laptops, by any chance?

If CoolIce's suggestion didn't work you may have to wait for a game update that addresses the issue, unless EA stated that your specific GPUs won't be supported.

I'm having the same problem and I followed the instructions that you guys figured out but it didn't help. Do I need to buy a new graphics card and if so what kind do I need? I just got the game yesterday.
