Build Mode

This build mode clip from Gamescom shows off some of the features we’ve been hearing about recently. And it turns out that the build mode portions of the survey fivegigs posted awhile back are in the game as well. (I am not even going to think about what that could mean for the rest of the game considering some of those questions.)

• New Build System - Build the home of your dreams with a powerful new range of tools that allow such great control as moving an entire room with ease, placing new walls with precision and adding detailed finishing touches.

In addition, we see the new roof tool and curved fences in action.

• Magazine View – Flip through Magazine View to choose from pre-configured, fully furnished room layouts, then drop the entire room into your home with just one click.

• Auto-windows - Placing windows in your structure is an art. For those with little patience, this new version features an intelligent system that detects the size of the rooms and conveniently distributes windows throughout the home. — Softonic

Some other features not shown here are friezes and foundations that are easily added and height adjustable walls and foundations.



Two items that the producers still aren’t decided on given the negative fan reaction is the allowed build height that’s currently set at only 3 floors and the lack of CASt which many consider unacceptable.

The embargo on build and buy mode from SimsCamp ends on September 11th so we can look forward to some more information then.

The Sims 4 is the highly anticipated life simulation game and the fourth installment of The Sims Series. The game is scheduled to release in the fall of 2014. It has the same game plan as its predecessor, Sims 3.

The last part of The Sims series, Sims 3 was developed by The Sims Studio alone whereas Sims 4 is being developed by The Sims Studio and Maxis.

Maxis will make a return to develop a main The Sims title. The Sims 4 will require internet connection during the initial installation process but won’t require it while playing. Sims 4 will be a single player game.

SimGuruGraham posted a series of tweets from his account clarifying players that being in proximity of color doesn’t impact a Sim’s emotions.

Sims 3 had performance issues on low and high end PCs but Maxis ensured the players that the latest version of the series would run better on low end PCs. SimGuruGraham also confirmed the release date of Sims 4 in his tweet as Fall of 2014.

The Sims was revealed via a gameplay demo and release trailer at Gamescom on August 20,2013. The estimated release date of The Sims 4 was announced on October 22, 2013.

The Sims 4 is one of the most widely awaited game of 2014 and has a gaming experience where players control the mind, body and heart of their Sims to bring their stories to life like never before.

Retailers Given Another Release Date?
It looks like retailers were given another release date for The Sims 4, this time October 7th, 2014.

Earlier in the week Linnyxx17 posted on The Sims 3 forums that the manager at Game Stop told her the release date they had for The Sims 4 was October 1st. Which according to the Game Stop manager meant the release date would be September 30th or October 7th.

And now retailer Newegg.com corroborates Linnyxx17’s story in a roundabout way by listing The Sims 4 Prima Guides with a release date of October 7th.

Newegg isn’t the most responsible of retailers as evidenced by the fact they took the image I made for my Prima Guide post earlier in the month and used it as the product picture on their website! (Which is cool but pretty outrageous — if I would have known I would have done a better job of it. ) And a forum post certainly isn’t proof of anything but I think it’s more likely than not retailers have been given a tentative October 7th release date for The Sims 4.

So what does that October 7th date mean?

Not much and it’s subject to change. Just like the March date they were advertising back in September when the game was first available for pre-orders. The official release date hasn’t been announced beyond Fall 2014.

I was just browsing the net and came across these pictures.................................................................I have not seen them individually before......................................Gosh, I wish EA would show us something new and exciting

I just love the idea of pre-made rooms which one can customize to their liking^^. I hope for the CAS return, they should do something about it's affecting the gameplay, I know it's not simple, but sims 4 without a ''create a style''??? Really, EA, really?

So far away; I actually heard September 24th as the release date, but still I was hoping for Spring.

Sims 4 release date is expected to arrive this fall 2014.

Since 2014 is already here, fans of EA's The Sims game are even more excited to learn more about the upcoming game. However, there are not many Sims 4 release date, news and updates aside from the Twitter posts from the Sims 4 producer, Graham Nordone (@SimsGuguGraham)

The game producer @SimsGuruGraham again confirmed that the officially announced Sims 4 release date is fall 2014, responding an inquiry from a fan. Also, retailers do not have a specific date of release yet for the upcoming Sims game.

Will Maxis squander their chance to market The Sims 4 in style?
The February 4th announcement on Facebook and Twitter caused much excitement for fans desperately hoping the marketing campaign for The Sims 4 would kick off again on the 14th anniversary of The Sims.

Instead we might just end up with another Origin sale only. Here’s what Origin’s Marketing Department told SimsVIP:

Do you remember the KraftKing Woodworking Table?
The woodworking skill from The Sims returns in The Sims 4. We know little about the skill this time around other than focused Sims will do better at woodworking than others.

Although last month we did see what the new woodworking bench for The Sims 4 could potentially look like; the concept art hasn’t been confirmed to be for The Sims 4 and the artist stated it wasn’t.

Music & Sound Refresher

In the meantime, here’s a mini refresher on what we do know about the music and sounds for The Sims 4:

• The Sims 4 Article: Imitation of Life

When The Sims 4 arrives in 2014, players will be listening to Joshua Radin. Unlike us, however, they probably won’t realise it. The singer-songwriter – whose music can often be heard buoying a particularly melodramatic moment of adolescent angst in any number of US teen dramas – has not only lent his soothing tones to the game, but has performed an original track completely in Simlish. In fact, he’s one of 300 artists who have recorded songs in the fictitious, nonsensical dialogue of the series’ inhabitants over the years. —GamesTM

• The Sims 4 Behind The Scenes: Scott Whyte and Cia Court

It seems that Scott Whyte is doing voiceovers for The Sims 4! Scott is an experienced actor and voiceover artist who is best known for his role as Chris on City Guys. —Honeywell

• Sims 4: Wall Tool & Acoustics

The game has over half a million sound files. Also the sound system has gotten a technical overhaul to allow sound to have a direction,so a Sim with his back facing the camera will sound a little muffled when he speaks, or a stereo being blocked by walls and sounding different depending on the shape of the room. Sims 4 Q&A from GamesTM
Here’s an oldie but goodie… GamesTM’s Q&A with Lyndsay Pearson and Ryan Vaughan.


Q: I want to be able to create a Sim using facial recognition. Is that possible now?
A: Lyndsay Pearson (Producer): We’ve had people ask that for a long time. That would be pretty cool, but our Sims have a specific art style, because we don’t want people to feel bad about torturing their Sims. We want them to be a stylized toy.

Q: Will the food look more appetizing in the sequel?
A: Ryan Vaughan (Producer): I think we’re all really excited about the art style of The Sims 4, and how that ties into the Sims’ emotional states as well. Food is going to have an emotional impact on your Sims. So not only is it going to look very in tune with this style that we hope is pervasive throughout the community, but food is going to give your Sim an emotional state too.

Q: Why don’t they speak English?
A: Pearson: Every so often that one pops up again. My favourite way it comes up is on the forum and people are like ‘Are they talking Russian?’ They think it’s some other language. But Simlish serves a very good purpose for us. It’s an opportunity for players to impose their emotions on the Sims and imagine what they’re talking about. One of my favourite examples was back in Sims 2 there was a penguin that shows up and went and talked to the snowman about hot soup. That’s just mean! But Simlish is a tool for us and we like leaving it up to your imagination. The Sims 4 gives an emotional connotation to the Simlish, so they’ll actually sound sad or happy.

Q: I want to do some home improvements. Can I take a loan out from the bank and build a house with it?
A: Pearson: That’s an interesting idea. We’ve tossed it around for different Sim things in the past, we haven’t bit it off yet but it’s something that would potentially be cool down the line.

Q: Can I follow my Sims to work and interact with colleagues?
A: Pearson: That’s hard.
A: Vaughan: Our core system has events now where you’ll be able to go out and play through certain parts of your career. There will be social aspects to that too, where you’re out interacting with other Sims and moving up the career ladder as you control that Sim.

Q: Could there be an app that enables me to customise and interact with my Sims 4 game on mobile?
A: Vaughan: That’s a great idea and part of what we’re looking at now too as we finish off this really solid foundation of the game. We’re making sure that it’s built in such a way that we can add stuff like that when we hear really great ideas. —Imitation of Life, GamesTM Issue 138

New teaser on the German Facebook page about the upcoming Sims anniversary on February 4th. A TS3 Sim is being revealed with the caption (translated by Google Translate) that reads, “Only til Tuesday… who knows what then?”
