Confirmed: No Sims 2 style cut scenes in The Sims 4
The last presentation at the GDC had a slide titled Dynamic Cutscene Sequencing under the “Other Applications” section that had fans excited for the possibility of the cut scenes from The Sims 2 coming back. They’re not. Graham Nardone had this to say:
Hey everyone, quick update for you!
I’ve been browsing though all of your comments while you’ve been scouring GDC presentations for morsels of info. It’s been fun seeing people getting excited over these behind-the-scenes glimpses of the game and the new engine that powers it. I do want to clarify one thing in particular though so that nobody feels misled…
Although Brian (one of our talented engineers) discussed some of our technology called Dynamic Cutscene Sequencing in his talk, cut scenes in the manner that Simmers are familiar with from the days of The Sims 2 are not something we’re planning on including in The Sims 4 at this time.
If you weren’t already aware, GDC stands for Game Developers Conference. It’s a great opportunity for people who work in this industry to get together, share knowledge with other like-minded individuals, and have their accomplishments recognized by their peers. Although information from GDC talks can end up online, the discussions are intended for that specific audience. In that setting it’s appropriate to reveal the inner-workings of the new technology that drives The Sims 4, but it is not a forum to confirm any information about what features will be in the game.
I’m very much looking forward to when we next get to speak with all of you about the progress we’ve made since Gamescom and revealing more new features that we haven’t even touched on yet. Hang in there

in case it’s later deleted) are under the cut. And if you missed any of the GDC 2014 posts you can find them
