I don't like this. I'm sure that the modders will come up with a SP mod, but still... When I play a household, I like the whole town to progress. When I play a legacy, it's pretty annoying when, for example, my kids and teens go to school and there are no neighbor kids to meet, visit, befriend, go to prom with, you know what I mean? I like to connect them all, integrate them into the story, make a new generation when they begin to move on and so on. Make some drama :) It keeps the town more lively and I don't need to change worlds. So yeah, not happy about this.

I won't miss story progression. It caused more problems for me than were needed. I had Sims who were the love interest of my Sims getting married to other Sims, I had townie Sims having their own twin, new townies always looked the same and had the same ugly hair color, young Sims would always date elders.

I think most of the people who will miss it had the modded version. Maybe a modder will introduce a story progression mod later.

I have to wonder how easy or difficult it would be. We've seen some pretty amazing script mods with the Sims before, so I have to wonder if someone would be able to create a Twallan style mod once they got a good look at the coding and the scripts.

I may create a few personal mods and CC for myself like I did for The Sims 2. I don't use other people's mods and I don't download other people's CC. I haven't modded since that game and really if you asked me today to mod, I wouldn't know where to start. I would basically have to start all over learning everything again. In The Sims 3, I felt no need to create CC because there was the store and there was CAP (I downloaded it but never used it).

I am really disappointed that there is no story progression with the townies. I use Nraas story progression and it makes the world of difference in my game play in sims 3. No Maxis no that is just not "lekker" .............:arghh:

I will definitely miss the Story Progression. I've been using Nraas Story Progression.
I enjoy it when the townies get married, have kids, break up an unhappy relationship, move out or move in on their own. I don't mind a townie moving in with another family, it's as if they've been adopted or lended a helping hand, it adds richness to the story. Also, I don't mind younger sims hooking up with elders, it's only human.
Story progression makes the playing so much more challenging, the town feels real, lively and breathing. It's thrilling when the sims I'm not currently playing with are able to gain skills and evolve as a part of the overall story. A lot of those sims became writers or artists. When I finally started playing them they already had their own lives, so to speak. They had professions, circle of friends and lovers, skills and their own stories going on. Not being able to control every single aspect of their lives all the time is what made them feel real, as if they had free will indeed.
I hate it if I have to micromanage all that's happening between the sims (not to mention it's boring, never being surprised by what's happening). I certainly hope somebody will be able to create a story progression mod for The Sims 4.

I want all of those playing story progression with mods try it without mods and see if they will miss it. Without mods, story progression isn't really that great of a feature and is actually annoying at times.

Still, Story Progression should exist as a feature, if only for the possibility of being modded.

Modders may still be able to add story progression into the game. EA's version of story progression sucks. I have only seen people with the modded version who are sad it is gone.

I hope you're right and modders will be able to independently create a story progression for The Sims 4 even in the absence of a base game story progression.

Yeah I use Nraas mods too and I cannot play without them along with some of my other mods...TS3 would be boring without them. I love it when families move on without me and have legacies of their own. It's nice when I have a founder move into town, and meet Morty Goth, for example. 4 Generations later, his great grandchild is interested in this girl, and I check her family tree, well shoot...she descended from the Goths and has some Landgraab in her, then some Frio...nice!

Idk why couldn't they just add the option whether to turn story progression on or off. My computer is gonna blow little TS4 32 bit's butt away. I ran TS3 with almost no lag at all, and when I did, I usually just had to clear my cache or it was after a few days of having my game open. Wish they had versions or executables for people with both slower computers, then one for those with powerful ones.

They are trying to make the game run better on a 32-bit operating system so that players will no longer encounter errors such as Error 12 or have crashes because the game is a memory hog. You can't have a game that runs perfectly on lower end computers with high end features. Mods are a download at your own risk type of thing and they can raise the required specs higher than EA's minimum specs.
