The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection is free on Origin!

I guess I'm the one of the few who don't really care about TS2 at this point, to be honest...

I used to love the Sims 2, and I have a lot of fond memories of it, but that was YEARS ago and my gaming expectations have moved on. Why am I going to bother investing my time on a dated game that I'm not going to give a damn as soon as TS4 comes out? I'm not even in a nostalgic mood! All my interest is focused on TS4. Its like buying a phone when a better model is about to release in a month...

It also feels like a "cheapshot" to conciliate with those who didn't got the early demo. "Here, have a free Sims 2 packaged with all expansions. I hope that keeps you busy while we finish prepping TS4!"

I've found I prefer playing Sims 2 over Sims 3 at this point...but that mainly because of all the glitches I've experienced (and occasional lagging) with Sims 3. I will probably delete it once TS4 is released...but it's a fun reminder of a past game (my home computer has no optical drive, so I can't even re-install my old games at this point, since I don't have many of them registered at origins.)...that was my main motivation...

You're not alone. Ever since TS3 released I kinda put TS2 behind me as a memory worth remembering. Not a lot of people I was around with during the time liked TS3, but I did even after experiencing "the good, bad, and ugly" as people averted towards TS3 call it.

I like to think of TS4 as a glorified version of TS2 (that's basically what it is minus the lack of toddlers and pools... right?), which gives me even more excitement and anticipation for the next franchise in the series.

They just ended support for TS2 so they're probably doing this to cushion the blow. I haven't tried running it yet but I imagine it's going to prompt for an update and then I'll have to download the super patch and install that manually :/

Actually, has anyone come across that problem yet or does it appear to be fully patched as is?

I just downloaded it early this morning and played it for about an hour or so...it seems to be fully patched. I haven't had to download anything else so far...and I've played it several hours this afternoon and evening as well...haven't been prompted to get any updates or anything yet.

Does it work when you play it on windows 8.1?

Not a clue. I have Windows 7 Ultimate on my system right now. Maybe someone else can provide you a response for that one...

I have Windows 8 and it played very well. I am new to Sims 2 and played for a minute but I like the Sims 3 so much better but it was free so I got it.

I've never played TS2 but I always was interested so I'm definitely going to use this, thanks!
